Printable PDF Flyer to Handout (http://members.cox.net/mgriese/AzRocks08_flyer.pdf)

1. AzRocks - Again this year we’ll keep it pretty basic. If we have donated items we’ll have a give-away with names selected from signed liability waivers. If you wheel with us, we’ll have your name on a waiver. There are no plans for an organized BBQ this year.

2. Trail Runs – Carlos will be organizing the runs with signs and staggered leave times to avoid the cluster. The signs will show the trail, what time it leaves, and what CB channel to use. Once lined up for your run, an inspection will be made to verify that the waiver was signed and you have the necessary equipment for the trail you want to run. Runs will be limited to max 10 vehicles including leader and gunner. Make sure you get a window sticker when you sign a liability waiver.
In general, this will outline the equipment needed: http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31576

3. Trails - We need volunteers to lead trails Friday and Saturday. Ideally we would like to have Easy, Medium and Hard trails and try to have each member be able to run 2 trails each day, this obviously depends upon the trail, timing, problems, etc.

Below is a list of trails and their ranking. If you are interested in leading one of these trails, please indicate what trail and what day. If you haven’t run a particular trail before but are willing to lead, we will pre-run that trail with you before the event. Just PM me or Carlos and we’ll work out the details.

Richard (AzRockBum) will pre-run as many easy/medium trails as possible to unstack them before the event!

Friday April 4th

Hard/SA Only - Lead by Jake (EightyFourunner); Eric (Faux X4); and Carlos (ToyBox) with Grumpy along just to make the video interesting :)
Lower Woodpecker-Woody’s Wash-Upper Ajax

Medium
Lower & Upper Woodpecker -- Mike (AzRain) Leader; Steve (TuffToy) Gunner

FR4-Telegraph Canyon -- Only if needed

Saturday April 5th

Hard/SA Only- (first two) Lead by Jake (EightyFourunner); Eric (Faux X4); and Carlos (ToyBox) with Grumpy along just to make the video interesting :)

Easy
Coke Ovens-Battle Axe Loop -- Mike (AzRain) Leader; Carl (Zona4r) Gunner
Battle Axe-Coke Ovens Loop -- Richard (AzRockBum) Leader; Wayne (wmcwilli) Gunner

NO NIGHT RUNS ARE ORGANIZED BY AzTTORA – THESE ARE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

4. Firewood - Firewood for the Saturday night bonfire has been generously donated by Mike (AzRain) . Each member will be responsible for bringing firewood for other nights they are camping. Please do not bring pallets due to the nails.

5. Porta-Johns and RTI Ramp We’ll provide porta-johns as usual. We use A Company, Inc. - Pickup will be arranged at the Mesa Location. Rex (rexsname) has volunteered :kewl: so please thank him when you're at camp!

K-ton (fourbychef) has volunteered :kewl: to pickup the RTI ramp (by Friday and return on Monday) from our friends at 4Wheelers Supply on Washington.

6. T-Shirts – Again this year we will be offering event T-Shirts. More information here:
http://azttora.com/azrocks08/tshirts.html

7. Permits - ALL MEMBERS will be required to have a valid AZ State Land Trust Permit for AzRocks. If you don't have one, they can be obtained either at their office or via their website.

8. Drinking on Trails - Please review our policy here: http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55987

In short, this behavior will not be tolerated. We all will be enforcing a ZERO TOLERANCE Policy regarding drinking on the trails. NO EXCEPTIONS!

9. Signs - Once again, Mike (Heatstroke) will place signs/banners this year. With help from 4xClover, Faux
10. Camp Cleanup – We’ll need people on Sunday for camp cleanup and to make sure the fire pits are dead. Everyone can help by pouring your leftover water on the main bonfire before you leave.
Mark, Carlos, 4xClover, Faux, AzRockBum, Tacotoy

Please let me know of any errors or updates - once this first post is corrected/updated, I'll likely delete your post to keep this thread as clean as possible. Thanks, Mark

Good deal! 'cause I think the regulars are kinda burnt out. One or two of the SA runs would be great. If you have a preference let me know.

:wiggle: Damn, long time since I've seen you post here ;)

It's looking like you can schedule me in to lead a couple runs now finally....... as long as I don't break again before then! ;)

So, do I need to sign up for a particular run somewhere here or on the AZRocks website?

I'm not camping and am planning to just come out Saturday (and maybe Sunday) morning. What time do I need to be there?

Are you guys camping in the old Jamboree site area? I'm just assuming based on the "location" tab on the AZRocks website that's where the runs are staging from. Is that a correct assumption?

Also, where do I need to get the waiver to sign? Will it be available at the staging areas?

Some of you may know me from previous wheeling trips....red liberty buggy, D60s locked f/r, 40" stickies, winch, fire extinguisher, CB, street legal, insurance, etc. so I should pass tech inspection.

I can tail anything mid-range. I'll also be sticking around on Sunday for cleanup.

Also, I have a room at the Gold Canyon Best Western for Thu, Fri, Sat night with an extra bed. If anyone's interested in sharing the cost, send me a PM...

So, do I need to sign up for a particular run somewhere here or on the AZRocks website?
Nope, we'll run with whoever shows up.

I'm not camping and am planning to just come out Saturday (and maybe Sunday) morning. What time do I need to be there?
Be at camp just before 8:30am. We have staggered leave times to avoid the cluster

Sorry, I don't know where that site was, but from the Cottonwood Canyon flagpole (off SR79), take the first left (on the pipeline road) than just keeping going until you see Toyotas

Also, where do I need to get the waiver to sign? Will it be available at the staging areas?
Yes, the waiver will be at the staging areas

You'll pass for whatever you feel like running. We have enough leaders, but the planning for the hard trails is probably the most 'fluid' due to possible breakage from the previous days, numbers of vehicles wanting to run on Saturday, etc. We may have 1 to 3 heading out depending on those circumstances.

Hey, sounds like the GQ Jovan'ie may make it.? Would be nice to all wheel together again. We will need to make sure he makes up for lost time!

Mark in Az
03-30-2008, 08:57 PM
Tech will be simple

be a 4WD vehicle;
be in good mechanical condition, meaning no constant leaks;
have a recovery point both front and rear;
have a spare tire and a suitable jack, or the means to repair a flat.

We don't have any runs for 2WD vehicles. If you don't have a recovery point, we might have to yank on something that may cause damage. The spare tire on the trail leaders vehicle likely won't fit yours. :D

AzRain just called. He took out a 25' trailer this morning. He was able to get in with out incident. The dips are soft but didn't pose any problem getting in. He said he drug the dirt flap a little but no problems otherwise. He also said the "bypass" areas looked to be really soft and silty, so he stayed on the pipeline portion. He is now in route with the fire wood / bbq trailer.

Kaistie
04-02-2008, 10:43 AM
Well, Gumpy has the motorhome which is about 40', and he is pulling my trailer at 24'. So, that might get interesting. Worst case is he unhooks the trailer to get through and I beg for someone with a hitch to take my trailer the rest of the way in....I won't be there till tomorrow afternoon, so don't use my home as firewood:D
