So I got really tired of that silly little FROF Xfer case skid. So I :saw: :saw: :welder: :welder: this. All the plate is 5/16" and the trusses are 2"x3" 188 wall. Should be able to hold up to a beating. It hangs down right around 4". I did sacrifice some ground clearance, but I figured if I get hung up I will just crush whatever is under me:D Definitely already feel much better about the whole protecting ov vital parts thing.

Good googley, your truck must weigh in at about 8,000 lbs with all the extra steel you got on that thing. You may as well take it over to Iraq and use it as mine sweeper.

Hey Nate looks good with the exception of the screws at the bottom of the skid - how long before they are destroyed? With the way the thing unbolts are the rails I'm surprised you just didn weld the plate on.

Kaistie

I was thinking of welding them on, but I figured I would give this a try first and see how things go. The bolts on the bottom are 1/2 grade 8 tapered, but I didn't get the right taper bit. So, they hang down a little for now. Getting them flush shouldn't be much longer, just got to buy the right taper bit. If I do have a problem with them I will just weld a nut to them and replace.

You know, I got a lot of ribbing over my sliders when I made those as well, but you see a lot of guys running .250 wall sliders now. You guys will see that "My logic is undeniable". My shit don't break! Also, I think I lowered my COG about 8" or so:D
I did a rough estimate on weight and I think it all weighs around 100lbs. Should work nicely.

What, like cover them with grease? I was thinking of using the cutting brd material, but I have all this plate steel so I thought I would just use it. My slippery stuff is called throttle:D

When I can find someone that knows how to set up a three link that would be willing to help. I am tired of leafs for sure though, I just don't trust myself with the design.

The frame is clearly your weak point now. You should build a .250 wall frame to support the links :D

Kaistie
01-25-2008, 11:03 AM
What, you don't think.188 wall is good enough?

AZrockbum

Nope, should match the rest off the truck.

But if you do that, how will you keep it nice and tall so you can still roll with the super-dootie's??? :flipoff4:

He's not going to wanna hear that!

You better look into some 17" coilovers to stack together and mount directly to the bottom of the frame to keep it up where he likes it! :lmao:

Yeah, it figures. Funny how that happens. But, I will be back to conquer that trail before 2010. Maybe you will be ready by then:flipoff4:
