: February Meeting discussion

Bear

It is time to have another meeting. January has slipped by without us having one, and there are a few issues that need discussing.

My only concern is how and where to schedule a meeting to get the optimal attendance.

Please discuss, no idea too small or too trivial (that may mean the same but you know what I mean)

brinner

there has been some interest in having a Feb. run, which im not opposed to THAT much, but i really dont like wheeling in the absolutely freezing cold weather. I would, however, be agreeable to riding with some of our newer folk and lending a hand/being obnoxious and screaming like a little girl at the scary parts.

.....any Lafayette members wanna chime in here?

Bear
01-28-2008, 10:53 AM
I am talking more about a meeting more than a run. But we do need both.

I also being from the South have my "druthers" to wheeling in the frozen stuff.
In fact right now my truck is stuck in the driveway…still busted!

i hate ice

that is all

Bear
01-28-2008, 12:10 PM
I don't mind the ice and snow, I just don't like the idea of what can't be seen under it!

when I used to hike in snow covered mountains in New Mexico, it was easy to really twist up a knee just because you could not know what was buried in the snow.

i'm game for either or both. i think a run would probly get more attentees.

What about talking to one of the local shops to see if they would be interested in hosting us and showing off some of their products and work. i could talk to Carl at Outback Off-Road and see if he would be interested. just give me an idea of when you guys like to get together.

Bear
01-28-2008, 10:15 PM
thanks for the offer. I have talked to Carl in the past, so he is aware that we exist.

I always encourage our members to spread the word and solicite sponsorship. If you would like to discuss this idea further let me know.

In the meantime, I don't recall receiving an email from you to let me know you were interested in the group. which is not a big deal. I just like to welcome all our new members. I look forward to meeting upwith you.

Start a new thread in this section to say Hi, and introduce yourself if you like.

But Welcome! disregard my post earlier!

no problem, you probably don't remember me but i talked to you a bit on here an while back and also ran into at Badlands one day with some ARB issues. i used to work on Gasoline alley and i would always see you heading home.

Bear
01-29-2008, 02:21 PM
oh! okay Dustin, I remember now, I am so sorry, hopefully you can understand.

Sounds like you are working around the racers again (haven't checked out your link yet)

so how are things? are you going to be able to join us on a few more runs this upcoming year?

Bear

Bumping to get thread back on track.

so when and where are we going to meet? WE definitely need to have a meeting so we can start planning for T.O

DN1911
02-03-2008, 11:04 AM
how about the weekend of the 23/24? also for the location, Gander Mountain in Greenwood has a large log cabin conference room that i think is free of really cheap to rent. it would be a decently central location for most members.

im down hell ya i wanna meet everyone finally

Bear
02-03-2008, 10:49 PM
Its up to everyone on where we meet, but generally we have met where food is involved. As for the dates, that might work.

We will put something together in the next few days.

brinner
02-04-2008, 10:35 AM
23rd/24th sounds like it would work.....let me think about a location.

02-04-2008, 11:35 AM
I'll see if I can drag Steve up with me on one of those days. but let me know soon when and where.

brinner
02-04-2008, 11:37 AM
well if since your comin up we might as well at least keep in in the Indy area.......maybe what dustin suggested might just be in the right direction.

Bear
02-04-2008, 12:06 PM
I am not saying it is a bad idea(Dustin's) , I just rather hold the meeting in a more "relaxed" environment.

I did not realize those dates were over a weekend when I sent you the pm. so disregard about the times. If we need to we can hold it earlier in the day to get everyone home at a decent hour.

DN1911
02-04-2008, 07:28 PM
if we can pick one day or the other that would be great so that i can make sure i am off work. i'd would kind of suck to no even make the meeting on my own dates.

what is casablanca never heard of it?

You would think it was spelled that way, but it is not. It is with a K.

It is on the way to work so I will get actual spelling and address tomorrow. as well as a mapquest map

jason6746
02-05-2008, 07:32 PM

thanks

Bear
02-05-2008, 07:37 PM
I think the owners may also spell it with z in there somewhere as well. I know the first time I saw the place, I remember thinking "what the hell does that spell? I actually had to phonically pronounce it to realize what it spelled out.

jason6746
02-05-2008, 08:08 PM
is it a restuarant or bar or what

Hagan34

I actually had to phonically pronounce it to realize what it spelled out.

Why dont this surprise me :D

Bear
02-05-2008, 09:55 PM
It's a "barstuarant" :D

typically I see many hot rods and custom bikes in the parking lot in the warmer months, it is somewhat more of just a "hang out" I am sure they sell adult beverages.

Seeing as how money is almost none-existant these days I doubt I'll be able to make a meeting anytime soon... If I could just pay off all these medical bills...

Just a thought, but how about meeting at a "Good" chinese buffet? Or maybe at BD's Mongolian BBQ? Somewhere where you can eat all you want, then talk business... Get some more food and talk more business...

I can HIGHLY recommend the chinese buffet at 86th and Michigan in Indpls, or the Mongolian BBQ about .5 mile east of 31 on 146th street (Westfield).

Just a couple ideas I thought I'd toss in... Hope they help!

brinner

Bear

Okay, here are the establishments details:

it's name is spelled Kazablanka. the address is 5801 Rockville road. It is just inside loop 465 in front of the Sam's wholesale club. Next to the BMV. I have not done a mapquest on it yet, but if you need directions you have the details above.

so did I! I waited until you did first!

:xofftopic: (like any of this is on topic, but anyway) Will you be able to drop some coin down by the 24th for the seats? maybe as early as next Friday?

Hagan is on to something with a group buy and I will be ready Next Friday

brinner
02-06-2008, 10:35 AM
24th i can do, next friday i cannot........if i do, i put myself in a VERY tricky situation money-wise.

Bear
02-06-2008, 10:55 AM
understandable!

I will still have Hagan or myself call and set up a "group buy" payable later in the month.

I spoke to Dave about it also last night but not to this depth. so there is still discussion to be had anyway.

The four of us can talk about it off the board. No worries

Hagan34
02-06-2008, 12:02 PM
did we ever find out what the "brackets" are?

DN1911
02-06-2008, 01:00 PM
24th 6:30 count me in, it shouldn't be a problem to get off and get there by then.

anyone in lafayette want to look into carpooling down?

Bear
02-06-2008, 01:19 PM
I did look at the site and figured out what they were! basically it is an adapter or universal mount for the seat. I am not sure it will even work with yours and my trucks due to the ridge that is under our seats currently.

It maybe best just to fabricate something to use in place of that bracket.

Bear
02-06-2008, 01:20 PM
Dustin, you should also not have a problem finding the place, it is about 2 miles west of where you used to work on Gasoline Alley (up Rockville rd.)

Hagan34
02-06-2008, 01:23 PM
is that close to Keystone? or closer to the airport

Bear
02-07-2008, 11:27 PM
our meeting organizer moved to evensville or BFE as I have been told. But I will call and reserve some space when we get closer to the date.

Fuod
02-08-2008, 01:29 AM
BFE is about right, but I'm liking it better down here then in Carmel...

I can still help set up the meeting, just tell me what you want done! :) Heck, I have unlimited free long distance down here... :D

Bear
02-08-2008, 09:02 AM
well if you have free L.D call up the Prez, and all of congress and get this damn economy straightened out and then call the treasury dept and have them deposit all the savings into my swiss account! :D

I think we are covered on everything else currently. I'll probably stop in at the Bar & Grill on that Friday before the meeting and set up a reservation. It is on my way home from work be much easier! especially since I should have a pretty good count on attendees by then. But thanks for the offer.

myself
Brinner
Jason
Brian
Dustin
Hagan
Dave
Sean (?)
second Brian from layfayette
Keynote (Aron) (?)

so who am I not including?

Bear
02-18-2008, 12:02 PM
There are a few issues already at the forefront for discussion at this meeting.

But if you have something you would like to discuss (other than Brinner being so ugly…been talked to death without explanation)

Please submit topic either here or to me via Pm.

so far items on the table for discussion:
1) future runs
2) take over and what is needed from chapter etc.
3) Hunsaker seat group buy
4) why we should continue to allow Jeep crasher in our group (jokingly said)
5) chapter tube bender
6) future W.A.T's

Also for the members still wishing to order decals, I recently placed an order with the supplier, hopefully they will be here in time for the meeting. so please have money ready. (will confim as soon as decals have arrived) Currently we do have the 4 color decals in stock.
