Where do I sign up?? :D Let me know what I can do to help get this thing off the ground. Maybe we should have a planning meeting sometime soon? I was told that Josh and Lance will be heading up this way in March to wheel at Disney with Wadeunderwater, sounds like a good time to have a planning meeting. :D

can we work out some deal so we can have registration set up ?? kinda like the RLC did for the Ramble in June ??
Sure, how do you want to do it? They handle all of theirs online, and someone collects via mail. They then cut me a check the weekend of.
I can also do online registration so everyone can pay via paypal.
Unless you are going to do T-shirts or have over 100 rigs show up it is just as easy for me to just handle everything in the office the day of.
Just let me know how you want to do it.
-BJ
OK so BJ, Lance, Paul, Josh, what and how do we want to do??
I for one want Tshirts, and Rolands BBQ, i would really want them to bring the trailer out and cook on site this year which requires a headcount of 75 people, we were really close to that last year

Let me think on it for a few days. We got 9 months. :) I don't want to create more work than we can handle at this point. T-shirts, BBQ, and pre-registration are good ideas, but I don't want to be a event-nazi about it and give people reasons not to come. I kinda liked the openness of it and I think that's what made it a success. We do need a way to get an accurate head count.

Josh you're absolutely right, we don't want to create more work for us then we can handle. Lets keep it simple and fun. Do the raffle thing again, T-shirts, and a dinner.
Glen,
Do you have any local friends that are in a band and might want to play some music at our dinner banquet? :xrocker: :xrocker: :xozzy: :xozzy: :camping: :xbeer3: :xbeer1:

Just my humble opinion..between the choices of country or southern rock, I think southern rock would be a more all around choice. There are a lot of people that are not fond of country and people that are not fond of rock but southern rock seems to bridge that gap.
I am penciling this in on our calender. We will have to plan a long weekend.

I was looking through the SuperLift Park Events Calendar ... planning some weekend yard passes for the summer. I did not see the ArTTORA event that is scheduled for Sept. 19 - 21. Two questions:
1. What has to be done to get on the list w/ BJ? I'm sure that I am not the only guy doing some seasonal planning this time of year...
2. Is there a pre-registration procedure in place?
Don't know about the rest of you folks, but I'll be glad when it slows down on the raining...let some trails dry out a little.

Just pour syrup on me 'cause I'm still waffling. If I did go this would be my first ever organized trail ride of any kind; I'm not used to paying entrance fees & buying tickets etc. If someone could lay out an A: - B: - C: of how this is supposed to wring out for newcomers/non-superlift park members, I'd appreciate it. I see where the park price would be $50 for someone like me; apparently I'd get wrangled into a membership I'd never use again.
I know a couple bands, one bluegrass & one country/southern rock but they're both semi-proffesional & get paid to play & I'm not in daily contact with them so I'd have to make a couple phone calls to reach anyone.

A: Oh, I think you'll use the membership again once you go. You be hooked. ;)
B: As for the fees, you will be getting the one year membership, 3 days of wheeling, and probably camping fees for $50. The yearly fee alone costs $50, and that doesn't cover the daily fees. If you wanted the same weekend, it would cost you 50+(12.50x3)+(5x3)=$102.50. We'll probably add another small fee ($10-$15) that will cover your Saturday BBQ dinner, and a t-shirt. So it will probably be $65 for non-members (but this gets you a one year membership) and $40 for park members (who already have the $50 one year membership). None of this is set in stone yet, so don't quote me on it.
C: Raffle tickets are optional, but we hope that everyone buys at least 5 or so (at $1 each). We've got some great prizes coming and already lined up.
As the time gets closer, we'll layout more official plans. Stay tuned. :kewl:

That gives me a better ball park figure, $65 + or - & raffle tickets. Plus fuel, food, beer, damage, bribe for the wife....I'll be looking at a $300 weekend minimum; $500 if the wife is really pissed.

the entire weekend fee's for the park will cost you $50, this includes a $75 value (normally, $50 for 2 days, this gives you 3 days PLUS a $25 membership to the park )

if you want a tshirt we will need a "pre order" thing and have them at the office with the persons name

unlike other events i like the openness of our event in as such we dont expect EVERYONE to pay the same amount,
sometimes people cant get off the entire weekend and can only make saturday, so if they prefer they can pre order their tshirt pay the standard $25 day fee (assuming they are already a park member) and just stay and wheel theone day
i will say this
ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENT WILL GO TO TRAIL MAINTAINANCE PROGRAMS AROUND OUR STATE

I have a similar setup, except I do have some armor, and I can do a few 4's. If you are willing to get some custom pin striping, you'll have more than enough fun : )
See you there.

The good thing is, there are trails for everyone. Your best bet w/o sliders will probably be to stay on the 2's and be careful on any 3's.

I have met and wheeled with John, and James from AlpineAuto, and Cory a friend of theirs gets it pretty hard core as well. They all rock the buggys though, some of their other friends had full body rigs. I couldn't hang with those guys.

I refuse to go through Little Rock to get to Hot Springs. It's about the same amount of time as any other route, but it's a whole lot more miles. Plus my 4runner always got terrible mileage on the interstate. I always go down 71 to Y-City and take 270 east to Hot Springs. Or sometimes I-40 to Russelville and south on 7 (but it's a pretty windy road).

i totally agree, i would come down 71 to Y city and into HS on 270, interstate all the way is crazy

We came I40 to I540, but we were coming from LR. There isn't a good back way that heads West from here, so the Interstate was the best bet.
The 71/270 route is probably your best bet, but if you wanted to, you could take I40 to Russellville and take Hwy 7 to HS.
According to Google Maps:
All Interstate: 270 Miles, 4:18:00
71/270: 221 Miles, 4:18:00
I40/7: 224 Miles, 4:27:00

Thanks for the advice. I am hoping the wife and kids want to come along for this one if I can budget for it and hopefully we can see a few things down in that area while we are down there. I haven't been south of Devil's Den State Park (West Fork) since we've lived here. Is there any points of interest that my wife/kids might enjoy in this area beside the spa's; zoo's, museums, etc? It might be easier to sell her on this if it's more that just driving around in the dirt (as she calls it). She wheeled my tacoma for 4 hours at Flat Nasty last year and still calls it Driving around in the dirt. She even did the rock garden sliders the whole way! I was hoping to get her hooked so I could say "WE need lockers, WE need a winch, WE need..." you get the point. :D Anyway, I'll se what I can do.

Since the shirt design discussion is close to winding down ... where is the event at on a registration form? Or a final registration cost (park, event, meal, shirt?)?
How much is the event gonna' cost? And what does that buy me?
I did not get to attend last year, did ya'll pre-register or just make your X mark when you got there? Is there a plan to have extra shirts for those "walk-up" people that didn't get the news on shirt pre-pay's?

I think the current estimate is $50 for admission to the park. Then another $15 or so to cover dinner on saturday and a t-shirt. The only definite number is the park admission, I believe. Still waiting to find out how much the rest will cost.
BTW, did we decide if the park fees included camping?

I have the programming done for the reg. form, but can't make it live yet because our site (ar-ttora.com) is suspended at the moment. That's a separate issue that's being looked into.
I think the only thing that's set is $50 gets you into the park. Tshirt and meal fees will probably be separate.
Last year, it was pretty open. We didn't charge fees, and had no registration. We didn't have Tshirts, either. Glen had a thread for people to sign up on, but that was really it.

So far, that's sounding close to right. The Tshirt/dinner fee may jump a bit.
I'll check to see if the fees include camping. If not, it's $5 a night per site.

Fuller I will be driving down from Bella Vista Friday night as well. I'm taking 540 to 40 to Russelville and south to Hot Springs from there. Depending on what time you leave, I will keep an eye out for you depending on if I'm ahead or behind you. I'll be driving my dark green 4 door tacoma with topper. Depending on how my daughter is feeling, I might be alone if she is not up to it. She had surgery Friday morning. If she's feeling better, it will be my wife and kids to, but as of right now, she is not doing well.

Either way, I have to wait for my kids to get off the bus at 4:20 (:D ) before I can leave so you will be ahead of me regardless. If I see you, I will stop and make sure your o.k. If your having a roadside quicky, turn on your wipers so I know not to knock on your window. :D I PM'd you my cell if you happen to need it. See ya there!

for you guys it would be a quicker route to come down to FTsmith on 540 all the way to the south side and grab hwy 71 south to Y city, then hwy 270 into hotsprings, take 270 bypass to east side then go back towards town get on service road befor at the "magic springs" exit
hwy 7 from Russelville to Hotsprings is one crooked mother

hwy 270 is a major truck route, and besides a couple places you can make good time

I have a reserved seat & ticket aboard Amtrak, which will put me wherever the train station is in St. Louis on Thursday at 3:30pm. The ticket only cost $15.00, which surprised me. I can walk to DirToyBoy's house from the station. I'll have a backpack so i can camp out anywhere. I currently only have $93.00 to last me the trip, but that may increase before i depart. That all sound ok, Collier?

BJ might close the office by that time, if he does just go to your camping spot and check in in the morning
