22r MPG?

What Kind of gas mileage has your 22r been getting? I get anywhere from 12 in town to 18 on the highway as long as I stay at 55-60. 230K on the clock.

My '89 2WD 4 speed with tons of stereo gear got 20.0000 MPG EVERY tank.

Carb'd or efi
I know that the 80 2wd that I learned to drive on got like 22 and it had a cam. and a shell.

you said 22r ... meaning carbed ... so that's how I responded - do you have carb (22R) or FI (22RE)?

Oh, and I'm not exaggerating on the number of zeros after the decimal point. It got EXACTLY 20 MPG. If you went 120 miles, it was gonna take 6.0 gallons (which was like 1/2 tank - it had a tiny tank!)

my 84 22r would always get just over 20mpg

So there is something def wrong with the carb/30,000 vacume lines and diaphrams. F it I'm getting a motor next month I'll deal with it then.

Did you do much with the carb at all? I can't seem to get mine to take any kind of adjustment. I can't get it apart to rbuild because the p/o stripped the screws on the under side of the carb. I have to drill them out and then find some new screws.

it is most likely a vacum line somewhere. If you have the time and are patient it shouldnt be to big of a deal to fix that.

Just start spraying carb cleaner around and listen for the idle to change, then close in from there.

yeah it's been about two years since I did the carb cleaner thingy i suppose it's time again I have like 12ft of vacume hose left over from the last time I did a hose R&R guess that's my project for tonight (I have to stay up 24hrs on sundays to get back on sleep schedule for work). I also got something this weekend that has me super excited about working on the truck again it'll be in the wheels and tires section in a minute. he he he :saw:
