Do you have to be a member of a specific chapter or does being a member of this forum qualify? Reason I'm asking is my state does not have a chapter, but if I have to I'll join the PA or KY chapter. If I do not have to belong to a chapter how do I submit my info to the members rigs (without a chapter) so that I can register

Your Tacoma is your ticket to the Takeover. We had Canada representing at the last Takeover and they don't have any kind of chapter. I know Shannon is working on some issues with the member rigs and the registration portion of the site. Hopefully he will have more info on how to deal with the registration.

Cool!!! I was about to ask the same question myself.
Michigan has a chapter but since I live in the Upper Penninsula they are unfortunatly not really a "local" chapter, there's a big pond between us, I'm actually a little closer to Canada.

Usually after the dinner Shannon conducts a freshmen type of raffle (kinda like NFL draft). Those chapter presidents in attendence get to bid on the members without a chapter and take them in as an honorary member. :D

I figured others would have this problem too. So I'll wait for an explanation on the registration & members rigs, But for now I'll start getting my truck ready

Canal Fulton, between Akron & Canton. I think from here I would be taking I-76 to I-80 to get there, but I can swing a little farther to the north to meet up with you
BTW, the members rig section still won't take my info so I still can't register

I'm not sure if I'm going Thurs eve or Friday early AM. Does anyone know what time things are starting? Also, I'm leaning toward hoteling and I haven't decided to wheel in the stock or moderate category yet, what are your plans

I think this members rig thing is toying with me now. It finally accepted my info yesterday and gave me a message that my info would be reviewed and added, I clicked on the takeover registration and it was working but I did not register because I have to make a couple of decisions first, so today I log on and see my picture has not been added and the registration tells me I need to submit my info to members rigs first and now members rigs won't take my info again, anyone have any ideas????
Also is there a size restriction for photos in members rigs, or is it that my state doesn't have a chapter or is there something else

Kind of leaning towards friday eve depature myself but notings set in stone yet.I'm thinking I'm stayin at a hotel .Don't know what kinda of trails i'll be running as this is my first organized trail ride.I think i'll probaly go stock trail the first day just to get my feet wet and get a feel for the types of trails then go on some moderate trails after that.

My passenger won't know his work schedule utill the end of this month so I won't know departure times till then. I think what your suggesting with starting on stock and then maybe switching to moderate is a good idea. If you are interested there is another off-road forum (jeep oriented) that is having a trail ride locally next month, but you have to join their forum. I can PM you the details if you would like (I'm not sure on the rules about posting other club's rides) I will probably be attending with a few local heaps and would like to have a few other yotas to wheel with for a change
That other club's ride is June 10-12th and you have to register by the 23rd but after visiting their site I decided to clarify that non-jeeps will be allowed so I should have more info on that soon if you want it

PM sent, also they told me they don't care what you drive as long as you are a member and have your waiver sent in on time

This info may come a bit late but there should be no problems with you attending. If there's a problem let Shannon or me know and we'll handle it. I'll be at the Takeover and should be able to handle things personally. However, I would urge you to join the nearest chapter (PA, KY, whatever), it sux being a "rogue member". :D

Which chapter do we get all the Canadians to join?
Which chapter do we get all the Canadians to join?
Ha!!! You say that as a joke!
We have been trying to find a solution to this issue for 6 years! The problem is the obvious, it's a whole 'nuther country! There are international issues...I know, it sounds stupid, it's a matter of liability.
Shannon and I would love to see someone from Canada step up and start TTORA Canada. Even if it was just a loosely knit assemblage of members across the entire country it would be a step forward.
I'm open to any ideas that anyone might have!

thanks, the "new" registration form worked for me but I have a new question, I selected stock for trail willingness since I'm unsure of what Paragon has to offer, but if I'm feeling confident after wheeling for a day or two would it be possible to switch to a moderate group or would that cause chaos for organizers & trail guides?

I want to bring this thread back to life again, for us in Ohio and other places that don't have a chapter. I understand a new members rigs section is being built for me to add my truck to. So once my truck get accepted to that I will be able to sing up for the 2006 take over? Also I am wondering if other people from Ohio are thinking of going?

You can sign up at anytime, you do not have to be a member to attend the event...you just have to own a Toyota off-road capable vehicle.
And before anybody starts quoting the particular Q/A from the TakeOver FAQ that says you must be a member to attend, it is wrong and will be changed! :p

I hope my stock TRD 4x4 is somewhat off road capable. I will be sticking to beginner and light trails. I don’t have the $$$$ right now to do anything better than stock and I will be driving it to and back from Hot Springs. I will be out there mostly to lend at hand where I can and get some ideas where to put my money. Oh yeah and to have some fun and put some faces to the people I have meant here.
When it gets closer to July we need to start thinking about caravanning! I know a few guys from Illinois going, and I am planning on departing from Indiana.
Wait a second, I think I already mentioned this to you and a few others from ohio, haven't I?
If so, sorry…my bad!

Dude trust me you'll you will have a blast even on stock run.You would be amazed what you truck can do.
I haven't put much thought in to it as it is still a ways off. I just know Iam going to be going.
but that sounds about right. When I go back home to Texas for the holidays, I know it normally takes us about 20 hours driving almost non stop (Of coarse we stop for gas and food) but you know what I mean.
I would think driving out on Wednesday would get us there Thursday afternoon. As we normally use Little Rock as our half way point from Indy to San Antonio.

I am sure my tuck can amaze me. I just need to improve my off road driving skill and get more comfortable behind the wheel. I won’t be able to caravan with you guys though. I have to stop off at fort Campbell in Kentucky. I have a buddy their that has a bed waiting for my wife and me.

Like Nevdep said: I'm going to try to make this, and you'll be surprised by what even a stock truck can do.
Don't worry to much about your inexperience, you will find plenty of people who are willing to help you by giving advise or spotting you thru difficult sections of trail. I went with a stock group for the 1st day last year and our guide did a fantastic job of helping people through the various obstacles we encountered.

We will have plenty of trail guides out there for all of the different level groups. You'll do just fine. I plan to have a trail report as well as additional information about local accomodations and stuff out in late March. Stay tuned :D
