I'm doin a new motor soon (22r) and I have no idea were to get my engine. I can get a BRAND NEW engine for 1500 from this company in California on ebay but I don't know anything about them.

I would rather buy locally so I can save the shipping cost and just go get it. I've been pondering the "buy the head then buy the block then the timing kit then put it all together myself" Idea, but I really don't want to mess with all that.

I have a spare head and was thinking of just having it rebuilt but I can buy a brand new one w/ valves and all for about $100 more. The short block would be about 5-600 and then the usual gaskets, head bolts, timing, and all that.

I've got some time to play with but don't want to wait until August to do it. May is the latest that I would do it.

I don't want to do a 1uz swap right now, too much down time.

Any thoughts? Anyone buy a rebuilt with a new head in the Denver/Colorado Springs area? If so where, and would you buy there again?

Thanks:xbeer3:

I've only dealt with Jasper. The price is high but they seem to stand behind the product. This is better then most rebuilders.

Try Sunwest engines. Thats where i got my long block. You can order them with different cams and ported and polished. very reasonable price and a great warranty. heck mine even pulled out an F350 haha. Also when you do your engine i highly recomend putting in a center forceII...deffinatly worth the $$.

there's a place right next to ORS in arvada that does rebuilt engines. he seemed to know alot when i asked about a 3.4L, so i assume he'd know alot bout the 22. i dont know how pricey/stand up they may be though...

Lots of people on Yotatech have had good luck with orient engines.

Of course, there's always LC Engineering too ...

I'd love to have an LCE but they are pricey and they don't come with a warranty. I talked to them and they said "we build racing engines and if you race em you break em". I need to find a motor here in colo. so I can go and pick it up. I hate to pay shipping it's a waist of money, and there's always that guy who never speaks up, until you have bought something, that says, "DUDE I bought mine down the street and it was 100 bucks less than you paid for yours".

I know that VOLCOM has a rebuilt/reman in his that he bought in the springs I just don't know were.

Also when you do your engine i highly recommend putting in a center forceII...deffinatly worth the $$.

I had one in my GTi and it was the shizzzniiit couldn't even feel the pedal I bled it like 5 times when I first got it in. LOVED IT though. I don't know what one is for a 22r but I paid 500 for the GTi and I don't have that kind of money for this project. ( have more responsibilities this go around)

K so I went to jasper engines website and WTF 2270 for a motor and I always get confused with the core stuff is that price with the core charge or what?

Still 1800 bucks is about 300 more than I'd like to spend

Thinking about getting an engine w/o the timing shtuff and putting my METAL timing guides on with my semi-new (10k miles) timing stuff. Since everyone I have priced out doesn't offer the metal ones or charges like 300 extra for the "upgraded" motor. HA

F it
Una has put a seed in my brain that is growing like a weed.
all those 3.4 swap parts for sale on their web site and some stuff on craigs list

hhhmmmmm 500 more and I could have a 3.4 hhhhmmmmmm
