If this is anything like the last HOW, this is gonna be off the hook.
You got an RTI ramp? Would make things interesting.
I would really like to extend my gas line. Mainly just to save people from wasting there breath telling me the door is open. And fix the minor rubbing I get with the front wheels. Pretty minor shit, if you ask me.
I am hoping to make it. I may need to have a set of sliders welded on if i do not get around to having that done by then.

i hope that we can make it better than the last HOW, i've got the space and some great neighbors that just won't care
i don't have an RTI ramp, but it wouldn't be hard to get something like that set up here, we got more than enough shit lying around and places to put one
and i can easily fix your rubbing prob, i did it on my truck recently. and i didn't even need to cut a hole in anything, it just took a little grinding:)

i got a whole crap load of work to do to my truck like the timing belt is due, i got some do it your self cbi sliders that need to be welded up, and my steering rack bushing need to come out and my inner tie rod end is getting a little loose.
hopefully i can get some of this done before then, or i'll save it for a later date and just give you guys a hand for the time being, but if im in the area i'll be there for sure!

Anyone have a trailer and is willing to tow tippy down and back? I'll pay gas. Then we could do the chop and prep the engine bay for the engine...

Trailer it for sure. Matt says he can hook it up. I am surprised we can't get someone up our to way hook you up.
And I am sure we can flex it out somewhere on your property. A few acres and our crew will get stupid no matter what. Can't wait for this shit show.

I can bring the SUB it's a 3/4 ton beast. We could fit four people and throw parts and stuff in the back as well. It gets like 8 miles a gallon though I'll put in the first 75 bucks and we could go from there ha ha ( should get you to parker for that much)
I just don't have a Trailer. If anyone in Longmont might have one that would help w/ gas and all. Otherwise I can pick one up down here in the Denver area if someone has one to lend.

VWFast60 has offered his trailer. So I am in a wait and see pattern in terms of fundage and job. Right now I need to put any money towards liVing expenses. SO my dream of having the engine and and the back bobbed might not make it before May, but miracles do happen. Again thank you to ALL of you for your support and validation in what I'm going through. Oh and a HUGE public thanks to Troy. He's been amazing to me through this.... and I'm driving his other car - AND WHAT MAN LENDS HIS CAR TO HIS GIRL LONG TERM??? :D

Gotta do's :
Pass Lower Ball joint
Pass Rear leaf
Leaf bushings
Diff oil
Trans oil
Transfer oil
Eng oil
massage the pass fender (rock rash at carnage)
Fast blinker when brakes are applied
move tail lights in under bed so they don't stick out
raise bed 2" so you can fill it with gas w/o a hi-lift (filler is level w/ tank)
Probably going to have some of this done b4 HOW but these are all the things I gotta do. Then I get to buy a 4Runner and do all the maintenance things on it so I can go wheeling safely WOOOHOOO
I think it would be convenient to tow the green machine over on FRI then I can go get TIPPY Sat morn. If Molly wants to take her over there still.

like i told you before molly, we have plenty of empty space here if you just want to leave her here for a bit, as long as we aren't staring like 20 truckfor six months or so, you are all more than welcome to tow something out here they night before and crash here for the night. the one thing we definately have available all year round here is space. in fact we've got a '56 lincoln continental and an 88 rx-7 that havent moved in over two years just sitting here. oh well, when i'm finally get my truck completed, i'll have to start fixing the lincoln

Ohh I Know VWFast60 and 92RegCab would since they just did seamless body panel work while bobbing their beds. But I am not sure if they will be at the How South.
Also Matt, what is our plan for food. We might want to start a separate thread for that... I am going to bring a few things, but I can;t A) Afford to do it all, and B) spend the time and energy to do it all especially when I'm not familiar with the kitchen ;)
But a few folks have already offered to help so lets get that sorted out.
Put on a HOW isn't as easy as it seems but it always comes together! :D

04-09-2008, 12:04 PM
Well, I was driving my dads van (ford econoline) one day and I believe the fuel hose decided to come off and spray into the exhaust manifold and catch fire. It only has half the vacuum hoses attached to the right places so it makes it very hard to time the engine. Generally a nightmare but he doesn't want to get rid of it. More than a daylong project.

Sa-weet. Can you do a better pic, or a photo, of the 30V outlet? I can pick up another pigtail. Or maybe better yet, see if there's a NEMA code on the outlet.
Is your pop willing to show us some welding? Definitely please bring my welder down from HOW North! :D Even if he's not interested in striking an arc he'll probably still get a kick out of us making boogers LOL!
Ben---Do you have a new halfshaft (like from Napa) or anything like that? We're also gonna need that 35mm socket if anyone has one. I'll bring the Tundra FSM and the usual tools I carry...want to make sure I've everything needed for the job in my trail kit.
i'll take a pic of both outlets today and post up this evening, and my dad has done all the wiring for our shop himself, so it's not hard to do a new pigtail if needed (10 min for a real nice and clean one)
i'm not sure if he'll be working on anything but knowing my dad, he'll have to show off his mad skills from time to time.
i'm almost positive we have a 35mm, i will double check and post later.
Napa should be able to get it. Also a couple bottles of diff fluid, a drain pan, diff fluid pump, and allen key for the diff drain and fill plugs. If you bring the fluid I can bring the rest.
don't worry about a drain pan, we have a few and oil recycling bins in the shop. and we have every allen key you could ever need.

NEED HELP! So I just had to test the new tires in this mud pit on the outskirts of my neighborhood...and of coarse it was deeper than I thought. STUCK! Tried to use the high lift to no avail. Anybody with a winch want to assist on the way to the HOW? I'll make it worth your while. I'm pretty sure a winch is needed, I tried with a strap and another vehicle, strap kept breaking (other vehicle didn't have great attachment points). Vehicle assisting will not be in mud, it's dry right next to it, should only take 5-10 mins. Please call if you can help in the morning; tree 0 tree - for zero ate - for 6 sevn 6, anytime is fine! Stupid driver had to push the limits. Should be interesting for the person pulling, trucks pretty stuck:eek: Plus if you need help wrenching you got a guaranteed helper!

Well Matt I have been trying to get ahold of you, but I keep getting your voicemail. Anyway, I wasn't planning on going to this, but now it looks like I have to. On my way up to the mountains, my clutch finally crapped out. I can almost always tell when its slipping, and immediately get off the gas. Today it felt like I had positive engagement, but it must have just barely been slipping going up the hill. I looked in my mirror and saw smoke from under the truck. When I pulled off, sure enough, there was that unmistakable burned clutch smell.
Anyway, I already have the weekend off, and I can't make it up into the mountains. I'll head down...and if we can do it, great....if not, then I can drive it around town very carefully for a little longer. Haha...Just like my taxes, I put this off until the very last minute... Thanks to all of you who lent me a hand during the process of replacing my clutch. And a big thanks to poorboyota26 for really diving into my project, and being a HUGE help the whole way through. With the expertise of those around me, and the great tools and shop, it wasn't too bad of a job. Matt, you put on a great HOW. It is much appreciated, especially since it happened to be on the day my clutch crapped out lol...thank you... Considering we weren't there a hell of a lot longer than the lift project next to us, we did pretty good.
As far as the clutch goes, it's like a whole different truck. The pedal feel is not ideal right now, but I'll give it some time to break in, or just get used to it. I finally got to roll back out of the garage at around 9:30 or so. Not too terrible for getting started around 11. Good work everybody. Sorry I didn't get around to seeing everybody. I was under the truck a lot, but I tried to get out and be social on occasion.
Anyway, god it feels good to be sitting at home with my truck in the driveway, just out of the shower. I had to do a double take of myself in the mirror. I've never seen my face so dirty...

I thought they changed the design...I've seen what a Tundra does to that design ...needs more support. Tho I dunno if they ever saw my buddy's slider. I coulda swore they added a rear support not long after it happened. Plus it looked like a perfect fit on that 1st-gen DCab :p...
Oh well...great to hear they're taking care of it! Demello's a class act :kewl:.
I gotta pick up a unibit, that thing made short work of 3/16" plate and about 3/8" of stepped and sandwiched frame channel.

You guys were so great to me. Matt kept wanting me to go to a nice comfy bed inside, but I felt so much safer passed out with all of you around. That's why I love you guys! :D

I still wonder if your passenger side was correct. I'm very doubtful they designed and shipped that slider with the slot in the wrong leg. Have you checked to see if that one was a Tundra as well?

The passenger side was correct. Except it was the set up for bolt on but that worked out great.
