I broke both motor mounts this weekend on my '85 4Runner and I'm interested in upgrading to a stronger product ... if it exists ... and isn't too much work. HELP!
Uhh I see ORS's weld on units ... $300!!!!. Was hoping for a little less work or money or both!

When i was a kid and always breaking motor mounts in my dodge 340, I went to an eye-bolt and turn buckle arrangement, for the "lifing" side of the motor. That cured it. I think your 'restrainer' can't leave too much slop, or the mount will shear again.

Rockstompers are the best way to go

75 for the pair. Cheaper than stocks and stronger

Man, you just wheel too fing hard! I'd do the Rockstompers and then chain down the drivers side of the motor, I don't think you need to chain down both sides. I just used some chain I got from HD and then welded it to the inside of the frame rail, seems to be keeping mine together, or at least helping with the 3 crossmembers I'm using...hehehe....

this is kinda off topic-I guess-So does having a crawl box shake the motor mounts to the point of breaking? If so why/how does it do this?

The torque will break them by rotating the drivetrain. Crawl boxes double or quadruple the torque output.
Think of it like this. 22re make 100ft lbs or torque, the crawler times 2.28 by the stock 2.28 and it has 5.29 at the axles. So by the time it reaches the wheels it make 2750 ft lbs of torque at each wheel.

Probably even more w/big ole tars.
Anyway Rockstompers look awsome ... too bad they are on back order. Looks like Advanced Auto's & chain ... for now ...

Ha! They have one ... and I got it. They are cheaper than stock. A no brainer. Thanks Kyle.

Let me know how they do.
I may need to change mine out again. Although I'd like to get RID of some the shaking of the shifters it may just be what's gonna happen.
And my 22r don't make no 100lb-ft. :D hehe

I havn't run Smokey yet w/it re: xtra vibration but I did get it installed. Don't put off the swap for a trail fix because I had to enlarge the motor bracket hole for the stomper's stud to fit. Had to bend the inner fender well out of the way to get to it. No fun.
