Alloy USA, I got mine from Doug at Extreme Axle Sales. I wheel with WAY too many people running Alloy USAs with good things to say, some which have switched from Yukons, which consistantly broke.

I got a D60. Run Spicer 760X U-joints(sealed/ungreasable cold forged 297X's). Even then they are good as many of the guys with D44's and 37's-40's that I wheel with are running them and I have yet to see one break. And they are $25 each. Your shafts will still be warrantied with them from Alloy USA. Or you can run the Alloy USA X-joints, Yukon super joints, or any of the aftermarket joints.

Tired of axle shafts being the death of me. damn 20 year old parts! They always seem to break when im not on the gas. What fun is that. It's twice now i've broke a shaft first day wheeling at az rocks. maybe i should start wheeling the second day only...... Nah! then i'd miss all the fun stuff on the trail.

that fire road down the hill was a pretty lame place for a shaft to break

I agree, AlloyUSA. I had no issues with mine in the 44 or 9". I got them from Drivetrain Outlet (Owned by AlloyUSA), but Doug at Extreme Axle is the east coast partner for AlloyUSA and a bit cheaper in price. I got my 60 stuff from Doug, he had them shipped from AlloyUSA out of So-Cal.

I'm hearing that from a couple people. I wouldn't buy anything else though, I was just raise all hell everyday(which I have done to get my custom length shaft).

Here's my :2cents:
I just bought a 30 spline outer upgrade kit from Alloy and they said it was about a month backordered. I got it in less then 2 weeks, so....:dunno:
I called AlloyUSA to get some info on their shafts too. Surprisingly, shafts from AloyUSA are not made in USA. They're made in India. AlloyUSA actually gets their shafts from roughly the same place that make Yukon's shafts. I even asked "So what's the difference between your shafts and Yukon's". They said "The warranty". That's straight from the horse's mouth! So, don't believe all the bad press on the Yukon shafts.
I originally had upgraded to 4340 Chromolly's front & rear with 27 spline outers on the front from Yukon. I broke one front shaft in two different spots about a month ago...AND THE U-JOINT HELD! I was amazed that $25 760 u-joint didn't break, but both the inner & outer shaft did  It broke because I was backing up into an undercut rock I couldn't see and I was full turn and locked. I later took both rears out to inspect those as well and they are fine.
I have since moved up from 35" tires to 37", and my research told me that I better have 30 spline outers for 37's. I upgraded my front Yukons to 30 outers from AlloyUSA with Spicer 760 joints with full circle clips. I actually called Alloy to make sure that what I got was chromo because they didn't look as beefy as my Yukons. They were not stamped 4340 but Alloy assured me that they are chromolly...they don't sell anything less in a 30 spline outer. I put them on and used them for the first time at AzRocks and everything worked great. I ran Axle Alley and H2H without any axle issues.
My opinion: Yukon is just as good as AlloyUSA. Hell, that's even what AlloyUSA told me over the phone! I broke a Yukon, but I think anything would have broke on that undercut. I too went on Pirate to research chromo's and saw all the bad press on Yukons, but from my experience with both and a side-by-side comparison...their solid axles! Their warranty is lifetime too. And don't waste your money on CTM's or superjoints. Just get the Spicer 760's. IF they break I would much rather replace the u-joint then the shaft ;)
As far as where to buy...there's only one place I buy my stuff from and no one, and I mean no one, can touch his prices:

I only have experience with 60 stuff, so no experience with 44's, but here's my :2cents: . The statements above are facts regarding both made in India and being very similar materials. As a matter of fact, I always find it ironic that people seem to be so anti-Yukon and pro-Alloy because they heard that so and so broke thier Yukons, etc. Keep in mind that Yukon sells like 50 sets of axles for every one that Alloy and Superior sells combined(actually I think it's higher). I have a set of Yukons and two sets of Alloys currently and I can tell you that the Yukons are much beefier in appearance. Questioning this is where I learned that they are both made in the same region of India. The yokes are approx. 50% thicker in material, and the shafts are not stepped-down nearly as much. Bottom line is that I am not attempting to beat down Alloy at all, as I have had great luck with their products. I think they are all great shafts and Superior holds almost a "god-like" status in our sport, but here's what made my decision to switch to Yukon.
As stated above, wait times for warranty items are ridiculous. I know people who have been waiting for Alloy 60 stub shafts for over two months (with no end in sight!!!), and Superior has people waiting for 6 months for their warranty items??? I, personally, like to wheel alot, so this is not an option for me. Yukons, probably because they are a substantially larger company, are always in stock. I have never heard of anyone having an issue getting their products warrantied in a timely manner. I also run "Super Joints" because when you run their joints with their shafts, they said they will never question a warranty item . That being said, I think that all of the above companies make a great product. They can all be broken if put in a bind under power (hell there are guys that break Rockwell shafts). I am by no means trying to pretend to be an expert on the subject, but can only speak from my experiences, along with some good friends, and this is what I based my decision on when making my last purchase. Actually, I really wanted CTM's 300M shafts ($3k across!!!) or Bobby's stuff ($1850), but I'm too much of a "cheap ass" to buck up!:xpimp:

RYAN, call Doug at Extreme Axle Sales. I was told the same thing, I called Doug, they were sitting on my work doorstep the NEXT morning. I promptly called Doug to thank him and he was even floored they arrived that fast. Doug keeps a LARGE inventory of shafts and blanks and should be able to get you something quicker. Usually if there is a back order it's caused by the spline machine breaking down out west. Doug takes care of his own spline work and is the East Coast supplier for AlloyUsa.
SHAWN: EVERYONE pretty much buys their shaft material from the same area. That doesn't mean that there aren't different processes by each company to make ones shafts better/worse than another place. Side by side comparrison alone will show you that AlloyUSA leaves more material in key areas for added strength than other companies do. Both mentioned are a good product, and I've heard good/bad about both, just less in my case for AlloyUsa which is why I bought from them.
