Default 2010 Calendar of Events

Here's a calendar of off-road events and meetings around the state of Arkansas or surrounding states. You can guarantee that some of the AR-TTORA members will be at each one.

I'll edit this list as needed to correct info, add more events, and to post the link to the pictures and summary from each event.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Jan 15-17 2010 Lone Star Toyota Jamboree - Barnwell Mountain, Gilmer, Tx

The event that has grown to be one of the largest gatherings of Toyota off-road enthusiast and vendors held in Texas is having its 4th annual fun-filled weekend on January 15th-17th 2010 in Gilmer, Texas at the Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area.

This family fun event is organized to raise awareness for Texas Motorized Trails Coalition (TMTC) and to promote camaraderie among all Toyota off-road enthusiasts, and we can’t wait to see some of ya’ll back out for another great event.
All the info here --> http://www.lonestartoyotajamboree.com

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Jan 15-17 2010 Texas Stampede - Hidden Falls Adventure Park, Marble Falls, Tx

This will be an open event for all families and their rigs
Join in for some good ol' wheeling, dinner and raffle and More Wheeling!

Hidden Falls is one of the newer ORV parks in Texas.

All the info here --> http://ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138409

April 2-4th AR-TTORA 2010 Annual Chapter Takeover - Superlift Park, Hot Springs, AR

Our annual club event returns! Now with more springtime. Don't get fooled into not attending this one.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

June 4-6th 2010 Razorback Ramble - Superlift Park, Hot Springs, AR

The Ramble returns for 2010! Hosted by the Razorback Land Cruisers, a TCLA chapter, this event proves to be great fun for the whole family. The weather and time of year can never be better!

Means the "t" and the "r" are too close on the keyboard and someone had a fat finger complex when he typed it.

How about these fat fingers!

Personally, I have no (logical) idea why they did that. And I'll be going to the Jambo. It's not 10 hours away from here. I'd have to drive PAST the Jambo to go to the Stampede.

Gilmer - Definitely.. Hopefully we get another good showing from the club this year. I'm thinking Xterra camp again if ya'll are up to it.

Ramble - Oughta be there too. I've been considering joining RLC now that I'm a TLCA member.

AR-TTORA Takeover - As long as we don't have a bunch of events at superlift again, it'd be nice to stay at our home park. Going to Cass may bring in more of the NWA/MO crowd. Or we could even go somewhere else, I suppose.

I'd like to hit up an event between Jambo and the Ramble. Cruise Moab anyone? But seriously, I would like to fit something in there. If SCC goes back to Grey Rock next year, that would be neat to travel to during the fall.

SCC will be at Hot Springs again. I think that's the new permanent home for awhile. Which makes things tricky for our own event. I really don't want 2 Toyota events less than a month apart at Superlift, and I really don't want our event in July or August.

We could hit SMORR or Flat Nasty in the spring. Or haul out to the "New" Katemcy for the LSLC Roundup in March.

Well.. Maybe we could try and move our event to Cass in November. It can get a little cool for camping, but not bad. That might allow more people to make both events and keep us from multiple events at the same venue.

While I'd love to go to the Roundup, I'd rather wait a year or two until the new park gets more settled/organized. The party is probably great, but the wheeling may not be all it could be.

I don't want to hijack, but man it would be great if you guys join RLC! Just wanted to extend a personal invitation - we'd love to have ya.

Re:event locations. Rocktoberfest will be at Cass in almost Nov, so you'll be competing with those guys too if you try to do it at Cass in Nov. Some RLC members don't really care to go anywhere other than Superlift, because the trailer parking is so easy and the trails have variety. Whatever you decide, I'll talk it up when the time comes.

Take care,
Mack

I guess that makes 3 of us wanting to join RLC. Josh and I have been talking it up for awhile now. Let's do it! The people from RLC I have met are super nice guys.

I like Superlift, but I would like to try and make 2010 a year of exploration. Try a couple of other places, like you guys have mentioned.

Spot-on on all counts Josh. We had a few "meetings" at the SCC and it looks like the RLC is going to get up and running again. The new Pres. is eager to get things started right, Gary is on board, Casey is pumped about getting up and running again, etc. I was asked to help coordinate the Razorback Ramble for 2010 so I'll pitch in and do the best I can. Keep the first weekend of June open for a return of the Ramble! Also, please consider joining the RLC club! It's not much money and we could use all the support and participation we can get!!!!

As far as events go.. for me it's Gilmer in January, Katemcy in March (new venue or not it will be awesome! Razorback Ramble in June. Southern Cruiser Crawl in October (they will be a Superlift from now on! Gray rock is kinda ruined with the mining operations taking over the trails) and a little WTOE Club Run in Clayton in Nov. plus whatever else I can squeeze in there. Of course, the ARTTORA event will be on this list as soon as the details are available for that one as well. Keep in mind that the SCC (and probably the RR) will be an "open" event so any vehicle will be welcome. Just cause it's put on by "Toyota" guys doesn't mean we don't welcome others to come and party with us!

One final thought... I wouldn't be too concerned about having too many events at "our" park. There are opportunities to wheel elsewhere all through the year and I encourage everyone to attend any of these that they can. There is nothing wrong with keeping "our" event home at "our" park! The important thing is to try to keep them spaced out and let folks know well in advance when the event will be held so that vacation days can be secured.

Exploration is a great idea but please lets not turn our backs on superlift. People travel from far and near to wheel their trails for good reason. Superlift has it all! I wold love to see some of yall come up my way for some wheeling, though i can't promise you much rock.

Why not just change our fall event to a spring event? We could do it in early spring when the local wheeling season is just getting up to its highest potential. The worst part of doing this would be dealing with the usually wet conditions.

I suggest the 1st weekend in April, besides thats about the same time as my bday, so all of yall can wish me a happy bday in person.

In no way did I mean to turn our backs on Superlift. I love Superlift and feel priveleged to have it in our backyard. I would just like to see some different trails and scenery. 6 of my 8 wheelin' trips in '09 have been to Superlift.

I knew what you were trying to say. I'm just suggesting that we don't have to move "our" event in order to see other wheelin' areas. There are other events that we can participate in. I'm planning on attending the Alaska Cruiser Trek in 2010 but I would not suggest that we move our event to Alaska in order to participate

I've never had an opportunity to wheel Flat Nasty, Disney, Poteau and others but will get there some day. Fact is, folks come to Superlift because it has the most to offer and we should do all we can to support it!

Clayton has some of the sickest trails out there. Its by far some of the best wheeling i've ever seen, and on that note im not real damn sure some of you would have much fun there. Also its not camp friendly, its a get a cheap hotel room town IMO. Disney on the other hand, has some really good wheeling also and has a nice camping area. Not saying you guys need to move it to Oklahoma, just a little personel info on being to both.

I agree Superlift is our "home park" and probably one of the best in the nation. We need to support it and help out all we can in guiding, trail clean up and maintaince.
But from having wheeled Tellico (RIP) ketemcy (RIP) Clayton, Poteau, Disney, Moab and Cass... it is fun but sometimes expensive, to explore other areas, and give us a rounded wheelin experience, and to support other clubs and areas. I would love to get back to Ketemcy (new) and plan on a trip to Clayton and Moab this spring, as well as several runs at "the park" it seems most of the runs at superlift are crammed into spring or fall, for obvious reasons. can TTORA and RLC combine and co sponser a event? most folks need some repair, recoup time between runs. And sometimes have to choose between runs.... I was in RLC when it started up, we started strong but kinda fizzled with time, the ramble was a big event and drew folks from over..

I agree completely about Clayton. Green Acres is fantastic! Camping is available at the local state park as well as several other smaller private locations. It's great for smaller groups but "event" friendly. We make a small run there each November and I love the place!

The old Katemcy had incredible wheeling also and I hope the new location is just as awesome. I try to make that event each March but the facilities kinda suck compared to Superlift. The thing about superlift is how well rounded it is. From the trail system and maps, camping, bath houses, pavilion (could use some work here IMHO), proximity to town.parts, etc. it's pretty hard to beat.

I think the RLC bunch would be open to the idea but the TTORA seem to have some pretty hard and fast ideas about how they want things done. I remember discussions about what we could/could not do as far as providing meals, where $ had to be spent, etc. Maybe someone form TTOTA could pm me to discuss this opportunity off line untill we work through some hurdles? Now, if we are talking about the AR TTORA folks throwing in with us to help run the event that's another story! The local folks seem to have their heads on straight and are a great bunch of guys. I'm just not sure we can work through the issues with the TTORA at other levels. Of course - I could be wrong???

Ok, so this is how I'm seeing things...

-We'll have our annual event at Superlift. I had planned on it anyways, but wanted the option out there that it could be somewhere else. I too feel we should support the park when we can. At the same time, I like to promote variety over monotony.

-With the above said, and knowing of other events that will be at Superlift, I'm liking Daryl's suggestion of an "April Fool's Event". Moving it from September to April is the variety.

-I also like the idea of helping/joining with other clubs, such at RLC. I think the best thing we can do is to help boost their membership by paying dues. I personally have no problem being in 2 (or 3 or 4...) different clubs. I like meeting new people, and I think strength in numbers is the best thing for our sport/hobby.

-From a logistical standpoint, no, AR-TTORA (and probably not National TTORA) can not financially co-host, or help other events. Now if our members collect some money out-of-pocket to cook a meal, or buy a item to donate to a raffle, then that's different. We don't officially have a bank account to write checks from. One exception to the rule is raffle proceeds. We'd like to donate them to something, but we usually stash it for "seed" money for stickers, our next event, etc. Currently that seed money is low due to buying a batch of stickers (everyone should buy 3!!) and a club banner that we can use at events.

Sorry Lance I didn't mean to come off as offensive. I have a hard time wording things sometimes. I am Jelous though, i only got to make 2 wheeling trips this year with one more coming soon. It was a rebuild year for me though.

-With the above said, and knowing of other events that will be at Superlift, I'm liking Daryl's suggestion of an "April Fool's Event". Moving it from September to April is the variety.
Good idea Daryl, I wish I had thought of that. OK , I'm heading back to my corner of the state now.

I am kinda new with TTORA and not sure of how it works or rules and stuff as far as events go. I am kinda an old TLCA guy, so I do understand there is a certian way we can do things like events and such. But to me, An April event sounds great..

WOW, a guy goes to see his attorney for a few hours and all hell breaks looose

theres events all over the place in the spring, this is why we (also worked with BJ's calendar) went with the fall, late september early Oct,
Art told me Howiepalooza was a fun time and alot of the TallCorn people were coming down for that, as well as the Jambo in January (Gilmer) after this past January i WANT to do that again

i know what Lance means about "exploration" and i propose to all of you RLC included that we go to some "new to us site" everymonth.

If this means guys from north arkansas coming to Ross Foundation or us "south of 40" guys going up to Gittinitts gravel pits, or to Devils Den, Clayton, or Disney with those that have been there numerous times

SCC wants to be at Superlift, thats great because we (AR ttora) can help them or merge our event with them ( co sponsor) Takeover was a nightmare in the sense that we really had no control over where raffle money went I felt like a caged cat but worked on it till we had awesome time.

I am now a member of TLCA again, and if it means helping RLC i say rock on and become a member there also. I dont have a problem helping Mack organize thier event in June assuming they can help us on our event in September

we could take this a step further, something my family has done since i was a small little man was on our birthdays we got to pic whatever we wanted for breakfast lunch and dinner (within reason) in this world, we could go to Michaels backyard on his birthday ot let him choose where we wheel, not sure how we would plan anything but you get my idea
