Yo, neighbor! I've got an SWR and my truck is running a 4' Firestik off the bed of the truck. Bring your junk by and we'll get it rigged up...

I'm in Oceanside, just up from Tri-City Hospital....

I've done all the work on my truck. CB's aren't difficult. With that Cobra, you can get a real stealth install accomplished. I'll be available all weekend. PM me for address if interested....

I have no idea if you need a NGP (No Ground Plane) setup

But... If you PM ShowStop, tell him what you got and how you plan on installing everything, he'll be able to tell you if that setup is 'right'...

Even if all you need is help tuning the antenna, I'll help...

Make sure you get the spring. Firestik's are very rigid and they'll snap. The spring is very helpful. As far as a bracket, before I made my bedbar I took about a 6"x2" metal strap, bent it in half, drilled two holes and used the stock tie down holes right behind the cab. It worked great.

You'd have to cut up your bedliner. Just dump the bedliner like everyone else. Maybe the holes line up with the stock bed ties but I doubt it.

Although the bed is plastic, the rest of the truck frame is metal. So just be sure to run a ground wire from the mount to the chassis to bond the two together. The chassis of the truck serves as your ground plane.

Assuming you people get your radios tuned right. Less then 1/2mi away I was having problems hearing people. Properly tuned radios work much better then that.

Yeah I did my install and then took to the "CB Radio Shop" and had them tune in my antenna and I still have a bit of a range issue. I might be going to a 5' so that a little more of it is above my roof line and get a little better range.

Question..is there any local stores I can go to buy the cb antenna and mounting kit? I used to go to G.I. Joes up in Oregon to buy all the stuff and the online buys is to confusing to me unless someone can help guide me on what I need. I just want to mount it on the driver side of my upper hood and I want the spring on it that goes between the mount and and actually antenna. I just bought me a cheap midland radio on amazon also. Any info would be great. Thanks.

I mounted mine with a 4x4 door jam brace I got from homeslepot. It's a 90 degree angled piece of steel. It's got pre-drilled holes that lined up perfect to the stock tie-down-loop screw holes.

Any truck stops or travel centers near you? All of them should have full service CB and antenna sales. They should have all cables, brackets, radios and antennas you will need.
