Arrow Mini Wrench-A-Thon?

Would any of you fine gentlemen be interested in a little wrench-a-thon at my place in the next couple of weeks? None of the work is too serious or difficult, but it should be a good days wrenching.

I'll cater to the masses on the dates. Whatever works best for those that are interested in lending a hand. The weekend of 3/6 - 3/7, or 3/13 - 3/14. That's 4 days for people to choose from. I think I'm clear for all of them.

Right now, it looks like we'll be planning on March 13th.

The work that I need to get done.
  1. AC Idler pulley and AC belt
  2. URD Crank Shaft Pulley
  3. Power Steering Rack Bushings
  4. Extended Rear Brake Line
  5. Low-Profile Banjo Bolts
  6. Brake Flush/Bleed

I would love to get Drabnor and/or Dcabtaco for the Crank Pulley install since they've both done it before. ...and anyone whose ever fucked with that rear brake line before. I keep thinking that I'm going to break the damn thing (no pun intended). I should have all the tools required with the exception of the crazy Crank Pulley "SST".

Anyone who shows up shall be handsomely rewarded with beer, sodas, water, pizza, tacos, carne-asada fries . . . whatever you want to eat and drink.

Mechanical Geniuses:
1.) SAR_Squid79 - Jamie
2.) Pray4Surf - Rick
3.) Sparky - Mike
4.) Drabnor - RJ
5.) XJ Mike - Mike (ExPo)
6.) TACODOC - Dave

Daily Bump!

I forgot to mention - I live in San Diego just off of I-15, about 5 minutes north of Qualcomm Stadium, about 5 minutes south of Miramar.

I live literally within 5 minutes of CA-163, I-805, I-15, I-8, CA-52, CA-125 in San Diego.

Wish I could help Jamie but I will be at TDS the first weekend and then Range weapons qual. the second. Hopefully you get some help. I will be wrenching the two days before TDS with new halfshafts, ball joints, tie rod ends, and my Aussie Locker.

I've done the rear brake line. Not fun since I basically had to fabricate a washer for that line to attach to the frame mount. I remove the frame mount and did all the fabrication off the truck.

Do you have a power bleeder like a Motive bleeder? Makes for a much easier time doing that work.

WOW!!! http://ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=148958 . . . . . the only person that showed up was a coworker. But, if I'm getting called out. . . . . I'll be down on the 6th in the morning for the day (let's say around 9). Maybe I can call back on you to help me with my e-locker. I've done the rear brake line and didn't have any of the trouble that everyone else speaks of. The AC belt and idler shouldn't be a problem. The crankshaft pulley. . . . . well. . . . . if anyone has the tool and I can pick it up on the way down there. . . . that would be greatly appreciated!!! If not, we can take out the starter and put a big ass screwdriver in there. I'll see you then. Pm me your address!!!

I guess PM's don't count?

I love to help... Wish responsibilities here at home hadn't kept me from Sparky's wrench-a-thon

As I mentioned in my PM to you, I've got plans for the first weekend, but can be available for the second weekend. I even have the power bleeder for the brakes...

So, I'll see you the second weekend?

You just want to get out of helping me with my locker. It's all good! I'll see you at 9am on the the 6th. Send that address my way!

edit:
oops, didn't see that Rick is good for the second weekend. I got nothing going on next month so, if you want to get it all done in one weekend, I'm good for the 13th.

One trick I found with the crank pulley for breaking that bolt is to put a jack handle on a breaker bar pin the handle against the frame rail and bump the starter. Ide be down on the 13th except for I plan to be pretty blitzed by noon for "nuclear cowboys" at quallcomm.

A new crank bolt?!?!?!
Can you be more specific? Size? Thread Pitch? Is this something I need to get from Toyota, or can I get it from Ace?

I dont know why you would need a new crank bolt. Is the crank bolt a torque to yeild? I reused mine on an old truck with no problems.

Its not a necessity, but if something were to happen during removal, finding another one would be difficult. Dealer part only.

I removed the Crank Pully with out the SST. I just put my 5spd in gear with the Ebreak ob so the engine couldn't turn over and used my 2 foot breaker bar with my highlift handle on it for extra leverage. . Its a lot easier to work down there if you remove the radiator... I used a pry bar behind the pully and gave it a little bit of leverage with some small taps from a hammer and it came right off for me. I reused the bolt too... No problems.

OMG, I just replaced my AC idler pulley today and I can't believe how much noise that little fucker was making! I thought my noise was a combination of things but it was just that little pulley. My engine bay sounds almost just as it did when I drove it off the lot; so quiet now! Sorry for the thread jack but if you're experiencing any of the noise that I was. . . . . . you'll be relieved when we get that replaced this weekend. See you then!

Mine got to the point where it completely seized - but yes - once that pulley seized, and that belt broke, I couldn't believe how good my truck sounded again.

...it will just be nice to have A/C again! ...and it'll be good to have your experience on board since you just did it!
