Default Abandoned airport

Has anyone ever ran the trail to the abandoned airport off of Deer Springs Road?

How hard is it? And any pics would be great.

SCUFF did a run but I want to know more about it before I take my taco out there (because it just got fixed with a new paint job). My brother has his jeep and wants to go out there but we still don't have an official day set. We were thinking this friday but do't hold me to it. If we get an ofical day then I will post a run.

If any one has more info about this place please post.

Ya. My brother and I went out there and then it got dark and we got stuck. Ya we broke the first rule of offroad to never go alone but we were in his jeep and I brought my truck which I parked by the gas station, so we had a back up if needed. But we got unstuck and it was fun. Just the only thing was we were kinda lost and we didn't find the airport but when we got home we looked at the map and we found where we went and found that we got so close that if we threw a rock it would of landed on the airport. The reason we got close but didn't go was the area that was close had a bunch of motocross looking things and we were tired so we just turned around and went home.

Got stuck going up a hill. on the left of the hill there was a 2 ft deep rut and we went up on the right where it looked fine (remember this was night time at this point of time), was going up fine then the rear axle got hung up and and turned us so we weren't lined up with the same line that we took up it..The dirt there is terrible there is no grip, if you try to walk you will slip alot and that is what I did ALOT!!!! So we tried just to back down the hil but no way cause we could not stear the way we wanted, so to make the rest of the story short we had to go down the rut. We thought we were going to fuck up the driver's side (before we fell in it) but with how far the tires stick out the sides we were far from messing anything up.

look north. All it is is a dirt strip that runs west to east.

Ya it not a real airport, just a strip. The story, that I have heard, behind it was it was an air strip.port for drug dealer's. Because all over the trails are burnt cars with big rims. It is better if you see for yourself. The only thing is do not follow deer springs road because you will drive through bushes that will eat the paint and it just disappears at a point. So go to the end of the coldisack on Mesa Rock Ridge and take serendipity lane to the air port/ strip. Make any sense at all?

Are you inept with Google Maps, or what?
I still can't find what you're talking about... Can't you just show us? Give us a Lat/Long? Do we have really have to try to crack your DaVinci Code?

This is the only thing that I can find in the area that looks like an airstrip. But this can't be what you're talking about - becasue there's a big ass house or something right on the edge of the strip...

Looks like El-Farra St. would be the best way in...

I'd be willing to check it out with you one day, if you want...

This is where we got stuck. Don't let it deceive you it is a gnarly hill.

And this is where we turned around. I still can't believe we were that close!!

Who owns the land? Is it public? State? County? BLM (Bureau of Land Management)?

The rules that apply to (on) it depend on who officially owns it.

From what I know it is public. I didn't see any signs saying otherwise.

If anyone is a part of SCUFF (SoCal Ultimate 4x4), then they know that SCUFF has gone on this trail a few times.

I was just asking. There looks to be tons of little trails, and the air strip itself might make for a good camping spot.

This is North County so I was actually thinking that this might make a good location for an easy little milk run day-trip and camp out / SoCal TTORA Meet & Greet...

The only thing is when we (my bro and I) were leaving we went out on Camino Mayor by some guy's house and we meet him (on the outside of his gated house, and we did not go on his property) as he drove on to the road and he was mad that we were there, but that is because he is a rich snob. Just need to make sure we go by with truck that have strait pipes hahaha. The trails that aren't motocross are not hard, except the one I got stuck, which will make for an awesome challenge of who can get up there first or fastest.

Here is a map of where we exited
