The only one I see on davez sight is trailgears for 130 which is more than on tgs sight. Is there another one I am missing?

I like my trail-gear one. Used the winch for the first time yesterday to pull about 8 stumps out. Didn't tweak or flex at all, and some of the stumps pulled the truck accross the yard with the brakes locked up. Just make sure you reinforce your front cross member first.

Crossmember is in....just gotta finish gusseting it.
Also, after many beers worth of deliberation, I said f' it and ordered the trailgear winch mount...it's just not worth messing with building my own

I looked at budbuilts, then took a tapemeasure to my truck and drew a picture of what I needed. Went into the sheet metal shop next to work and showed them....they had a piece of 3/8" flat strap, 6" wide that they bent for me....gave it to me for free. The front gusset and the rear part that covers the back of the case I cut out of 3/16 with the plasma.
It turned out ok....i lost 1 bolt per side since 6" is narrower than stock but it still has a total of 6 bolts holding it on which should be plenty. I also messed up somehow when measuring and the valley of it ended up about 1.5" deeper than it had to be....but I still gained a crap load ovet stock and I have a total of 2.99$ invested in it so I dont reall care lol.

I now have a functioning stereo and in dash cb. Winch plate should be here today...so I can wrap that up. Gonna do a little front fender trimming and swap the steering box if time allows and be ready to wheel somewhere end of the month.

I think I sit about 2-3 inches as well. But I don't have fancy progressive bump stops. Just universal urethane ones.

Next question Jed,
When you put your tg winch plate on did you just bolt it on or did you weld it too?

![]() Got it all mounted. Trimming the grill was a real bitch. I ended up bolting it on with the four center bolts then welded it around the outer bolt and in some other areas. Replacing the crossmember really was not option since I had reinforced it and welded the crap out of it when I put the new hanger on a while back.

Bought a old junk, bent to hell dshaft from pullapart...cut it apart....then had glen put it in the lathe and cut the welds where the tube meets the ends so now I just have the ends with the little nubs. I then went and got a piece of 2.5" id schedule 40 pipe which is about ..25 thick...the nubs on the ends fit in it pretty good...a little play but it fits tight enough I think I can get it square enough for what I need.
I wish it were a little smaller than 3" od but its not that bad and it should be tough as hell so its nbd.

Truck is bad ass. Why dont you make it street legal and drive it to-from wheeling spots?

Really all it needs is turn signals, a better rear driveshaft, and some different tires.

Do it! I keep extra wheels and tires around just grab them every chance i get. Have a decent set of street tires stock size i took off the 85 and some misc wheels. I really need to find some badass tires and set up a good rig. Want to take my 85 and build a new frame and slap panels on to make the body like an effin tank.

built my new driveshaft last night....it turned out really sweet....I think lol. We had no dead sure way to make sure it was square but the nubs on the flanges fit inside the pipe pretty snug and we did everything we could to make it as square as we could....it is better than the old one I can gaurentee that much LOL.
If any of you are looking to build a new driveshaft the 2 1/2" id schedule 40 pipe is where it is at....it is almost perfect size, beefy, and cheap.

Put the new drive shaft in and pulled the old steering box out. Apparently the box is really fucked up lol. If I grab the input shaft I can spin it and turn the pitman arm....however if I grab the pitman arm I can not turn it...it binds tight...something inside is fubar for sure.

Ernies foreign salvage 740-773-5912
If they have a part you need there IE steering box, or hubs, I can run down and get it for you, and probably ship it to you, they arent one of these network yards, just let you fish around and see what they have. Theres a couple others, town n country is further north, and Rons (foreign) salvage is just down the road from me, they had some toyotas last time I checked, but I was pissed off last time I priced something there. Wasted a lot of my time because their place is so big, and then were sky high on price for some rusty ass wheels. Can probably look town n country, and Rons, on google for phone# Same deal goes for anyone, you want me to look at a junkyard for something, or pull and ship I can do it. Would like to trade for some help, but no one lives down here.

Put the new steering box in...was pretty much a giant pita but it is in and works good so far. Pulled the old one apart and the worm geat in the input was all broke to hell....i have no idea how it was still steering.
