Thought you guys would like to see the pictures of this. They've held up pretty well over the past couple of years and thanks to the middle bracket they don't sag.
![]() ![]() The way that this piece works is that you crank it shorter for the tire carrier to be raised so that it passes over the middle bracket. The wrench is provided for extra leverage. Once you have the tire out of the middle bracket you can lower it till the tire actually touches the ground. It doesn't really matter when you're taking the tire off....but it sure helps when you're trying to heave it back up there lol. ![]() Right above the main hinge there's a little u shaped bracket that drops down when the tire carrier is out 90 deg from the vehicle. This way if you have to get into the back of the hummer on a side slope you don't crush your nuts with a 37" tire. If you guys have any more questions or want some more pics let me know and I will get them for ya. I have no idea who makes them but I'll do some googling and see what I find. Google yielded the answer as usual. Here's a link to the manufacturer and it has some additional pics of how it works too. http://www.armyproperty.com/Equipmen...ries/MASTC.htm Here's the manufacturer link as well. No price listed but I'm sure that you could purchase one if you contacted them. They make a model for the H1 and H2 Hummers http://www.ricomanufacturing.com/mil_tire_carrier.aspx

Did a little more google time and found the only piece that was difficult. The piece that raises and lowers the whole assembly is a ratcheting turnbuckle. I found a pair of those for about 60 bucks or so and I believe they are long enough to drop a 37" or 35" tire down to the ground.

Check Ebay. Beltfed34 under HMMWV at times has a few misc. parts for the tire carrier. At times you can find them cheap. Then when you get the shipping bill you know why the guy was selling them so cheap. Mine was 250.00 when i got it. Shipping was about 135.00. Thing is big and heavy but sure works nice.

Did forget. A HMMWV tool carrier is nice to have also. You can have your axe, shovel and pick all in one nice holder. Easy to make a mount for and take it where you need to go.
