May 19th Crystal Beach & May 20th Gulf Greyhound Park
Alright, this is 2 weekends away.
Saturday May 19th is National Go Topless Day. Now although typically a Jeep event, there will be a ride from Galveston to Crystal Beach. I'm not planning on riding with the Jeeps. What I plan to do is just head to Crystal Beach where they end up. It's a lot closer for me to just head to Crystal Beach via High Island so that's the route I plan to take.
Then Sunday May 20th there is a WFTW fundraiser at Gulf Greyhound Park. Here are the details on the new TX4WD forum Hosted by the Katy Chapter...
So you built a one ton truck, that you're gonna use for beach runs; but you don't want to wheel with Jeeps, so you're just going to go park it on the beach and wait for them to get there? Am I following you correctly?

It's not that I don't want to hang out with Jeeps, it's just a shorter route for me to go straight to Crystal. They don't ride on the beach there anyway, it's not allowed in the city of Galveston. They stay on the seawall and ride the ferry across to Crystal Beach, where it is allowed.

What time you going to head down,I am going to hit the pass for a look around and head that way by lunch time
Ray the TX4WD group I'm meeting up with will be on Bolivar around noon. I plan to leave my house around 11am and head down FM1985 into High Island, then hop on 87 straight into Crystal.

"Jeep" and "ferry" seem to go together naturally!

Just read on the TX4WD forum that Houston Jeep People is anticipating 200+ Jeeps in their group that are heading to Crystal Beach. Gonna make for an interesting day out there tomorrow.

nope, shannon was at crystal beach. I left around 3 from SLP didn't see any stuck yota's,just a bunch of jeeps playing on the dunes. Was a super nice day !!
Crystal Beach was crazy this past Saturday...and I mean Spring Break crazy. Got there around noon and after a few hours of bs'ing with random people I finally cruised back up toward the west end of Bolivar and got away from the zoo.
Around 7pm I headed back home. Got this picture. Thought it was cool, my 1985 4Runner cruising down Texas Farm Road 1985...
Other than getting too much sun standing on the asphalt at Gulf Greyhound Park all day, Sunday was cool at the Wheelers for the Wounded event. Mostly Jeeps showed for the 4x4 portion of the event.
I'm taking it easy today, too much fun in the sun this past weekend!
