Default Stock Tacoma bushing?

Hello to all! I have an '04 TRD and was just wondering what the stock bushing material was. I'm guessing it is rubber but just want to be sure. Has anyone replaced them with the polyurethane ones? Any difference? Are they worth the $150? Thanks for the advice! Great forum!

Rubber

The only things I would replace with urethane are the steering rack bushings and the rear leaf spring bushings. It would be best to leave the body mount and front IFS suspension bushings stock, the rubber is best for those applications.

why is that? is it too stiff with the polyurethane ones? Some companies like energy suspension offer a complete polyurethane bushing kit, all of those bushings were the ones i was referring to.
Also, does anyone have any trouble with the polyurethane squeaking? that would drive me freaking crazy! Or are there any alternatives to polyurethane and rubber? Thanks!

Polyurethane absolutely squeaks. I had poly bushings in my front control arms. Bad idea. They squeaked like hell and wore down to the point they needed to be replaced. The body mount bushings dont squeak but they are a bit too stiff for my preference. You feel more bumps and such with the poly then the stock rubber.

Bottom line, just because they offer poly bushing kits doesn't mean its a good idea to go out and replace all the stock stuff just because you can. Stick with the items I said and leave the rest alone.

^^x2 On polyeurthane being noisy and not absorbing bumps in the road as well as rubber bushings. My all pros are noisy, i'm going to install a couple of zerk fittings so I can keep the bushings lubed. Hopefully that will keep them quiet.

Bringing an old thread back to life, did you ever install zerk fittings in your factory A arms? Can you write a how-to or just post some pics if you did, or point me to one already out there? I'm installing Energy Suspension poly's this weekend and want to throw some zerks in the control arms to keep them lubed.
