sory to post so much so quick just that i am ordering my tires and rims in the am,
my last question i swear is should i go 8" wide or 10.5"? just currious i don't want them to stick out to much due to not wanting to ruin my paint with chipps but i want them to fit and look good also is there a big difference between 4" back spacing and 4 7/16 ? enoph that i will notice? thanks again for all your guys help |

If your tires are 10.5 or 11.5 wide, then go with the 8" wide rim. If you are getting a 12.5" wide tire, then the 10.5" (or even better, 10") wide rim would be recommended.
The backspacing is a tougher question because you didn't mention what model/year you have. On the 95-04 models, stock backspacing is 4.5", so you need to go with at least a 4" backspacing with wider tires and 3.75" BS would be better. The 05+ models came stock with 5" BS so, 4-4.5" BS is recommended. Again, all this depends on the tire width and in many cases, the amount of lift you have. Post up specs of your truck and the tire and rim combos you are looking at and that will help us give you better feedback.

got some news for ya...they will stick out past the fenders anyway you do it with those tires and the needed less backspacing to keep them from rubbing the spindle towers and frame rails. 4.0" bs is fine and stay with 8" for width.

I think the least of your worries will be paint chips if you intend to do any wheeling. If your gonna mall crawl it then by all means shine it up.

General rule of thumb is 4 inches. for 11.5 you may be able to get away with a stock rim which is what I'm going to try and do with slightly less psi than normal. Plus, when you air down to wheel, the narrower 7 inch stock rim is going to better and prevent possibly popping a beed than an 8 inch rim. For 33x12.5's definitely go with 8 inch wide. IMO!

On my last truck I put my rims on that were 3.75 or 3.5" backspacing (can't remember) and it wasn't a trd package. Looked just fine. My truck now has a trd package and they only stick out 1/4" or so past them...
