I was wondering, has anyone ever painted the same style of alloy stock wheels that are on my 98 4x4 Tacoma Black? If so, what do they look like and could I get some pics? If I do it, I am going to do it right. Sand the wheels first and also use the right stuff. What do you guys think? And also, lets see some pics of the ones that you have done. Thanks
You're on the right track though - sand before painting will help the paint stick better, but keep in mind that if/when you hit the rocks wheelin', it's gonna remove the paint no matter how much you sand it or how many coats you apply.
I have Rock Crawler Street Locks - they are black steel wheels - here are some pics:

Mudferret, no worries bro I didnt think your were eing a cock at all. And honestly I forgot to do a search. And if you were (and you wernt) trying to be a prick, you would have a very good reason to be. haha, i forgot to search, thanks guys. But still if you have some new info that i will not find, let me know, or post pics thanks
I think I am just going to buy the Summit 185 Series Wheels. Have any of you guys seen these on a Tacoma? I think they will look pretty sweet. My truck is complete stock set up right now, so what back spacing and all those measurements do I need to get? Or could you direct me to a web page that has a guide? I tried searching the forum and google, but I just got even more confused. haha
i sprayed 1 can of duplicolor on my stock 4runner wheels back in 05.
prior to spraying, i removed the wheels and cleaned the beejesus out of em. i then sanded them, taped them, and sprayed several coats (1 can worth) on the front and rear of each wheel.
i pretty much followed the directions on the can.
