Have not seen much chatter about this event from the Colorado contingent this year. But in case anyone's interested it'll be going down March 22-23. More info here...

Cheers muthafukas!

I'm out. I'm not driving 13 hours to wheel FJ again. I had that in my backyard for 5 years and wheeled the shit out of it. Fun place, but not worth the gas money & time off for me.

Going to look in to this a bit more... Its possible but I'd have to drive both ways

You'll be good to drive there/back, I did the first year on the bias plys. The 2nd year pulling a trailer behind the Tacoma. Last year I trailered the taco and it was nice, but almost triple the cost in fuel (@ about $1100 on the trip, between both trucks)

Had some great wheeling with a big group of rigs out there on Friday (Upper Woodpecker, Upper Ajax), plus some kickass Friday night run action (it was a ride-along with Brian for me - trail was Woody's Wash, where T-Bob broke for the weekend) and a full day of wheeling/recovery with the Degenerates on Sat. (Axle Alley, Bad Medicine) Epic, hilarious campfire shenanigans, of course. You guys missed out.

I fell into the fire hole on Upper Woodpecker and caved in the pass door. No biggie. Also got into my rear driveshaft on Bad Medicine (that trail has a super twisty, off-camber, tight, big obstacle at the exit that denied 5 out of 7 rigs, including some buggies). My rear driveshaft is being retubed with something heavier than .095 this time.

Hope to catch you CO boys out here next year (if there is a next year Rocks event) - there was talk from the President's camp about not doing it in 2014 unless someone else steps up to take over the presidency.

Pics and vids up on the AZ board, plus a pile on Igor's FB page.

I saw some of those pix of the carnage and recovery... looks like the front axle on that taco got royally fucked. Did you make the exit that denied the buggies?

I really wished I could have been out there. Next year my pile should be out there for some fun.

You talking about Igor's pics? Those are the only ones I've seen from our run on Sat. Yeah, the rear D60 axle shaft on Rad Ryan's Taco broke at exactly the same moment that the front kingpin knuckle completely came apart. That was the most bound-up on both axles simultaneously that I've ever seen. That 6,000lb beast was wedged in there hard. That double winch pull recovery attempt only resulted in snapped winch line and bending tubes and sheet metal. Many hours with a high lift and more winching eventually did the trick.

Hahaha :lmao: Uh, no, I did not make the exit. Chandler's "PornTaco" buggy went through with a little finesse and one other rig walked it like a pro. All the rest was about recovery or just flailing around and not making it. Brian and I took our rigs back down the rest of the trail and drove around to provide more recovery support (another winch) from the exit side of the trail. That's when Brian's wheel got bent and the tire went flat - as we were headed back down the trail.

Hope we both make it next year. It'd be great to run some AZ trails with you again, this time in our older crawlers instead of our IFS Tacos. For now, just get Jr. ready for Moab. Mel's in for that one. Should be a great trip.
