Well, my truck is finally starting to get some attention again. I picked up some lift spindles yesterday and the truck is currently getting aligned. Holy shit, I didn't realize what an improvement it would make! I'll get some pictures up tonight. My truck is now roughly 5" over per side and with the 4" lift I was able to back all the way off on the torsion bars. The front end is sitting a little high for now, but keep reading...
I also talked to Mikey at Central Coast Prerunners this week and he's going to be doing my bedcage for me. Going to be running 16" Fox 2.5's, pulling 18" of travel and keeping the stock gas tank location. I'll still be able to fit my bike in the bed as well. Hopefully this will be finished in a couple weeks.
And third on my list is the motor swap to a 3.4 V6. I've got everything sitting in my garage except some power steering pump brackets and an electric fan. (anybody have the power steering bracket and tensioner they want to sell me?) Hoping I can get this thing rolling in the next month or two.
I agree that the Ivan Dan setup was one of fabtech's best suspension systems ever....but like everything they do.....they screwed it up and stopped making it.....they also used to make a great custom I beam setup for rangers that i had on 96 ranger before i sold it.....16 inches of wheel travel 4 2500 installed!!!! those where the days when fabtech actually made quality stuff. That truck is gonna be Badasss when you are finished!!!
Yep, running 12" shackles over the frame. Fabtech spindles I found on craigslist. Ivan Dan LT is 3" per side and the spindles added about 1.5"-2" more.
Dayum that is wide. How does it feel on the street now the the t-bars aren't pinned?
Whats the dimensions on that radiator and where did you get it?
The black intake manifold looks good.
With those spindles, if you do any light off-roading, you'll want to drill out the two holes in the spindle where the steering arm connects.
Drill them all the way through and stick a grd.10.9 M14 bolt all the way through with a jam nut on the end.
That steering arm will bend and shear those M12 bolts right off.
We went through abut 6 bolts on my buddys truck until finally we drilled them out and put a bigger bolt in there. Then never had a problem after that.
Went to get my alignment on Friday and turns out my guy couldn't do it. I needed to put longer bolts in the uca because there wasn't enough thread showing. Got that done on Saturday and hopefully alignment will be no problem tomorrow.
You need that Link Tacoma clip now...thats about the only solution.
