Got a buddy with an 07 who is getting a new frame cause his old one is rotted to fck already (Toyota warranty). I guess they used the same shitty steel as the first gen frames, wtf..:dunno:
I went in the today for them to switch out my leaf springs under warranty, they told me about the frame recall they took a look and said it was pretty bad and they are going to replace it. He also told me that toyota is paying them a little over 8 grand to do the swap so they are more than happy to do any that come in.
Toyota has certainly owned up to the problem but IMO it shouldn't have happened to 2 consecutive generations of their truck. After the first generation tacos having frame problems they should have made absolutely sure that it wouldn't happen to the second generation.:2cents: On a quiet night you can hear taco frames rusting.
My dealer said bring it back mid summer for a 2 day frame check. Too busy right now. Will give me a loaner for the 2 days. Currently they have 8 trucks waiting for a frame.
Seems like frame rust seems to be a common issue with 2nd gen tacomas.
