Wow, nice work! The hood louvers look awesome among other things!
Always been interested in how the nose pinch is fab'd... I've seen several different methods. Can't quite tell in the pics but did you have to shorten the hood? The alignment looks really nice, door to fender gap is minimal and fenders to front edge of hood looks spot on. Nice!! |

Thanks Tross. I did have to shorten the hood 2.25" due to the arc of the fenders swinging in. I hope to improve on the door/fender gap with final fit up. Right now they are barely hanging there. When I tube the front end I will be able to add tabs to attach the fenders to and be able to align them better.
Stan

While I have been cleaning up the body work on the cab getting ready for paint, I’ve been working on the drawings for the back half tube work. Just a little glimpse of what I have so far. The main hoop will be inside the fiberglass rear fenders. The rear fenders will be flush with the cab at the front and taper back to a 36” “tailgate”
The red line is the outline of the cab. The blue cross hatch is the main hoop and bracing. The green tubes comprise the rear frame section at the tail gate. I’m working on side and top views. Old school CAD.

First draft of a side elevation. Green areas are radiator, fuel cell and battery. Radiator may end up in the front.

I've been working on getting the body work done on the cab so that I can paint it prior to starting the tube work for the back half and exo cage. I figure it will be far easier to paint it without all the tubes in the way.
Pulled out the rear window and the windshield. I had to cut out 6 places where cancer had eaten through the rear of the cab alone. All the patch pannels are welded in and the back of the cab is primed out. Lots of work for just a clean body ![]()

Thank you. I have little choice in the patience area. It is like most things in life, I am either short on time or money when I want to work on the truggy. Some times things do work out and I have both at the same time.
I have been pretty busy in the shop lately so my own stuff comes last. Certainly no reason to complain

I got a little done today on the truggy. The main hoop is fit and two main cross members as well. I use the blue tape to get a visual on where the cross members are going. ALso made up two taller adjustable stands that will support the rear most part of the back half while being constructed.

Thanks much, slow as hell but moving ahead...........
I managed to get a little time today and got the main HOZ hoop bent and in. Not much but a bit. You can see the new stands in the photos, they allow for precise adjustment. ![]()

I got to work on the Truggy again this afternoon. The upper hoop is tacked in with the two rear vert tubes. Also got one upper tube in. Starting to feel like a truck again. I gan get a feel for where and how I can hang the rear fenders.

OK here's the deal. My Step daughter is here for a week on Spring Break, she'19. The barn manager at the farm is 21, they are pals. Those two and my wife traveling in a pack all weekend. I escape to the shop :hhmm:
I used a random piece of tube in the shop to use as a shock hoop. The final shock hoop will be taller and the front leg will land on that lower node toward the cab. It will be a mix of 1.75" and 1.50" tube. If you look close on the PVC pipe there are two red lines, proposed shock mounting heigts. The back end is basically a 3 bar triangulated truss on each side tied side to side at several points. There will also be a second B hoop inside the cab along with A Piller and Halo. The exo is to protect the cab, interior to protect occupants. Everything you see on the cab will be interior. The two B hoops will be connected through the top and as sceen. ![]()

Lookin' good dude! Awesome work!
I was curious why you chose straight up vertical B pillar tubes and not follow the cab side profile? |

I did not want any Vert bends in the main hoop. The two main rear Hoz hoops are 0 degrees the main hoop is 90.

Well,as Baz has told me, all work and no play makes Stan.......
So, I took a break from installing fence posts ( 72 of 192 in the ground ) and business today (Sun) and I worked on the truggy a little. Spent some extra time with the new puppy too. Her name is Bristol, 8 months, Bloodhound/Shepard mix. Gets on good with the 3 boys ![]() Got some more of the back half done. Traingles are your friend

Rain again, so I got the back half pretty much as far as I want to go without the fuel cell and radiator in hand. It won’t be too long and the back half will come off and the cab will be finished out and painted.
If you look at the three triangular sections making contact with the shock hoop you can see that they also form an inner fender. There will be aluminum panels in each section. Hopefully they will help keep the mud spray down when things are wet. Hard to tell from the pic, the center triangle is horizontal. I’ll probably panel the lower two front sections as well.
