Default GATES INSTALLED Ross foundation cleanup

edit: they have installed gates on landcamp road, i will try and talk with the director this week if i can and see what is happening

Ross foundation cleanup day June 14 2008

be there or be a dirt bag

we have got to get this done, theres so many old tires dumped out there its not funny,

the worst area is on tram road west of highway 7, coming from Hotsprings its the first road to the right after you come down the big hill that has a gate, its "usually" open but is going to be locked if we dont do something

i wend down through there the other day, 1st time in months
theres a waste tire collection site in Arkadelphia, at the MidArk truck stop beside the shop

I think this is a great idea.

We probably need to divide this into multiple tasks. I know there are a few "dumps" that we could spent all day on. And then there's all the main roads that need picked up from "just throw it out the window" trash.

I can't probably do anything until Memorial Day. That should give you plenty of time to get your truck finished.

good idea on the multiple tasks, getting the tires off tram road is something that will require several people and a couple of trailers,

we can hook a chain thru a few tires at a time and winch them up

btw I've been feeling better

Can't be of any service fellas, to far of a drive for me at current fuel prices. If I could I'd help out; keep me posted by e-mail of these clean ups when they are knocked together & I'm sure I can make it to help with one here & there when money allows or if one is cobbled together closer to my home area.

I will be in town May 12-17. The 17th would be a good day for me. I can probably get hold of a trailer or two as well..

Default Clean-Up Trail Efforts (CUTE)

I have to agree w/ Brenjen on the distance & gas price. A better suggestion might be to label May 17th as the "ArTTORA CUTE Day". It surely wouldn't be that hard to get a couple of us north AR wheeler's together and pick up a few tires or TV's ... especially if we could put together a ride or lunch w/ the thing...gittinit .. muddemon_06 .. anyone else north of Searcy interested?
I haven't been to the AR sand & gravel area, any good to be done there?
Just thinking out loud ..

Removal of any metal, scrap or misc from the arkansas sand and gravel area might be considered theft. There are dump trucks, old track hoes, and some rockwell axled trucks out there that belong to the owner of the property. I have friends who live within eyesight of that property. They watch the grounds as part of our clubs access agreement. If you want to keep these trails open for all of us, please don't remove anything but beercans from that property.

I'm gonna be wheeling FlatNasty that weekend or I would love to go on a scavange/cleanup run.

I'm down for some clean-up work at Ross Foundation. I love going there, and would hate for that to be closed. I am going to be pretty busy over the next few weekends, but am definitely interested in helping out. I do have a winch we could use to help aid the tire cleanup.

Default Know your target audience

Git,
I'm with you on the property owners equipment. I would agree completely that removing anything like that would be flat out stealing.
I guess wasn't thinking in that context. I would be more worried about people dumping stuff ... and that causing a problem for those of us that want a chance to ride the area. Beercans, TVs, old tires ... That's what I was talking about. Surely, if we were attempting to stop illegal dumping, it would be seen as a good thing...but, you know the place & it's workings ... I don't, so I'll check to whatever ideas you think are best on this deal.

ive been doing research on where to take the tires, here my correspondence with MsHoover at the ADEQ

Quote:
We can give you a one-time authorization letter to haul the tires to the local waste tire collection center. I will need a copy of the proof of insurance on the vehicle to be used to haul the tires and a copy of the drivers license of anyone who will be driving the vehicle. I will also need a mailing address.

For fee information, if applicable, you may contact James Goble of the Inter-District Waste Tire Program at (501) 340-8791.

Ms Hoover, i was just reviewing the ADEQ website and found this ("Waste Tire Transporter means a person who collects and transports from one place to another,
twenty-five (25) or more whole, used or waste tires, processed tires, or tire residuals for storage,
processing, recycling, reuse, resale, or energy recovery.")

if we remove more than 24 tires from dump sites along back roads will we need some sort of permit?? or will the ADEQ grant us permission to "cleanup" these areas without paying a permit fee??

Thanks Glen McDade

Sounds like typical Arkansas crap; nag 'cause it's there & then make you jump through hoops to try & help clean it up.

Brent for President of these Untied States. I'll fix it all & create jobs doing it.

I thought that is what you were meaning I just wanted to throw that out there in case someone decided to pilfer. I do think I have seen some old appliances out there, but I just don't know how to get rid of em without being out the fees at the dump.

I know the property owner has a couple burnt dumptrucks, and stuff like that that really should be hualed away too, but there isnt anything we can do about that. Besides with the theft of copper, and aluminun these days there are some hoops to jump through. If this were public property, or the owners were easier to contact it wouldnt be so bad.

Kinda unrelated but, there was a guy in the news rescently who got killed trying to get copper wires off of telephone poles by tying one end to his truck and then pulling it down. He got out to gather his goods when a wire he pulled down cooked him like a manifold burrito.

Stacy, plan a saturday, or sunday for a get together, and we will do what we can.

For the tire hauling, split up the loads so that there isn't more than 20 or so per vehicle. Who ever agrees to take them will probably have to take them in 20 sized bundles over the course of a few days to get around the "you need a _____ to to what's right" rule.

Sucks that you can dump them without a permit (illegally of course), but to do right and dispose of them properly, it costs.

As far as I know right now, the 31st should be fine.

Really? Sweet!
