hey everyone im new to this board, been posting on colorado4x4.org for a month or two figured ild start here too. ive got a 1986 extra cab with 2.5" to 3" lift springs in rear and ball joint spacers on front (not to happy with them), the truck came this way with 31-10.50-15s and had a locker in the rear, but that blew on me on I-25, i replaced it with open 4.10s, also put on 33-12.50-15s, a new clutch and a couple replacement front end parts other than that its pretty much a pos
but hey im down for wheeling with people on the weekends as long as its not too far of a drive

Welcome! Where are you at, what's "not too far"?
4.10's + 33's?

Welcome.. another one in the north!.. that tug o' war with the south is starting to take shape. The "plan a trail run" section is pretty active and we have a calendar posting that's kept up to date (thanks to FJCruzer). Look forward to seeing you on the trail.
Troy, he said 4.10 with 33's.

ANOTHER 2nd GEN WOOO HOOOO!!!!
I've got a 87 reg cab and a 86 4Runner. Like Redrunnertc said "33's with 4.10's". You better think about getting a third member from like Anderson's for cheap and then put some 4.88's in it and while you've got it apart put a locker in there. Otherwise you are going to break a diff or axle first obstacle you go on. How long have you owned the truck. I'm grew up in Greeley. Live in Littleton now though. There are some trails about 2 hours from you but I'd think about those gears b4 going Welcome!!!! Great little group here you will love it.

well yeah i know i need new gears, plus i hate having the speed cap at 75mph going down hill with the wind at my back, i was thinking 4.88 if i got locker what should i go? kinda on the cheap right now, i was thinking maybe spool, not too concerned about killing tires, i can always get more but yeah how much would a good set of 4.88 gears cost me, and to install?? oh and too far would constitute anything further than boulder really this is my dd, i have a back up car but i dont like getting to far from home base here in greeley haha

Gears are a couple hundred and you can estimate $300 for install, plus maybe another $100 for parts/miscellaneous.
Lunchbox locker (replaces the spider gear assembly inside the stock carrier) like a Aussie will be a couple hundred and you can install yourself. If you have the person install it with your gears, I would expect a small charge. Full locker (completely replaces the stock carrier) like a Detroit or ARB will be $400 - 700, but install is exactly the same as the gears, so shouldn't cost any extra there.

I lived right next to that school in Highland Hills. Just a few blocks south of the nursery. We used to go 4 wheeling where they built the Lowes. There used to be a field there and we would haul ass acrossed it and then get to this swampy area with lots of sand and hills, really hokey now that I think of it.

i ran 265/75/16's on my 92 reg cab, 5spd, 22re....
it was a dog. 5th gear was useless if there was the slightest uphill, crosswind, or headwind, and it definately didnt go anywhere all too fast around town. but welcome to you man, i have a few friends who are up in greeley, and im only about 25 minutes south of you. |

That 4Runner is off of 12 ave and 18th st. I think It's on the east side of the road
White 4Runner black rims clean no rust? I saw it parked in the drive when I went to get my 4Runner.
