I took out the carpets and I want to eventually Rhino line it. I have a couple of problem though. When I spray out the truck the water does really run out of the drain holes well. So I want to pitch it so it flows out better, any suggestions on materials to use? Also I have a heat problem on the passenger side so I also need to insulate the floor pans first. I was thinking about just using some spray foam and then smoothing it all out and then coating it with fiberglass but I don't know anything about how to use it.
Any and all suggestions would be much appreciated. A vinyl bench seat would be great too. |

Well you could use the BFH to get your flow better.
Won't the rhino line act as an insulator? How hot is it getting? Like uncomfortable to touch or just warm?

what is the bfh? And the heat is hot and warms up the whole passenger seat. I was thinking of covering the whole floor with heat tape first.

Expanding foam is not easy to smooth out. Even if you drag something across the wet surface to level it, bubbles will come here and there. Misting it with water helps to speed up the curing, but it will not be perfectly flat. |

Go to the source of the heat problem and fix that first. If it doesn't have a heat shield, then replace it or make one. If you decide to reinstall the carpet, then installing "Dynamat" (www.dynamat.com) under the carpet will also help.

The heat sheild is there it's just not enough. The reason I took out the carpet in the first place was because my truck always looked like a potato farm. I go muddin almost every weekend and I want to be able to spray it out easily and not clean it for hours on end.
Also with the BFH, have you seen the floor pans bare? It would take forever to beat it out, there's ridges 2" wide every 2". As far as the spray foam goes, don't they sell those heat wires you can just pull through the foam. Then I could sand it down. I don't know, if this is a stupid idea tell me. |

I would say no to the spray foam and I would install a heat shield that would be large enough to do the job of reducing the heat. Have you looked into the do-it -yourself type of roll-on liner (Herculiner, etc.)?

um fiberglass...
id advise against rhino lining or line-x ing any part of the interior of the cab, think about what would happen if the stuff caught fire... i recently had the opportunity to cut up my bed which was lined with line-x, at first i was using a cutting wheel on my grinder and it would heat up and start to burn the line-x, the fumes coming off this shiot were UNBELIEVABLY toxic! i was in an open area with a face shield on and when just a bit of the fumes would get under the shield id have to stop what i was doing and get the fuck out of there. id imagine that if you had a fire in the cab with the windows up you would be dead before you could even get the truck to stop or the windows to go down... |

not to mention that that spray foam releases mustard gas when it ignites.

I'd suggest wrapping your exhaust in that heat wrap they sell for headers, or making a heat shield and putting that reflective HVAC tape on one side of it. As for the floorboards, I'd take some thin gauge sheetmetal and make a false floor for it. Be sure to put plenty of spot welds throughout the surface so that it won't rattle, then go back and fill the voids with expansion foam. That's just an idea for ya...
