By the way - what do I need to be legal? Do I need to buy an adventure pass? Where should I buy it?

Adventure Passes are required only for recreational use for portions the four local National Forest (Cleveland, Los Padres, Angeles and San Bernardino).
Anza Borrego is not part of the National level service but is a California State Park.

You do not need any pass to use Anza Borrego State Park or to camp at Truckhaven Hills (much of which is now part of the State Park as well). Please do not be fooled about the term “Park” this is a very large piece of land, the largest State Park in the USA! It is huge and all beautiful!

To use the park and to camp in the open (as opposed to using one of the campgrounds) is free and requires no pass or permit for general use. You just show up and enjoy it.

Details about the park can be found here:
http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=638

Is that where the term "Borrego Boy" came from?

Yes! And, the original Borrego Boy is still remembered for his good humor and bleating personality.

Pack your stuff, come see!

Wow, that is going to be perfect weather for this kind of thing!!!

Not too hot so as to make the Borrego Suit itchy!

Really, that is going to make for a nice time.

Geeze Louise Dennis,
So much for surprises?
We have custody of the new and improved 2008 "Borrego Suit" and it will be at camp TTORA.
Now that the "sheep & cow" are out of the bag...
We will make sure the "right" gets the honor of wearing it.
Tweeter tested, Dennis approved?

I miss Tweeter. Really he should be there to pick who gets to put on the suit and assume the bucolic ovine position at this event.

Now folks just need to pack their gear and head on out there!

I remember some of that, and know how hard it can all be. So, Anza Borrego, sand and rocks, a great way to get back into the good times again!

Default Thanks

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to give a big thanks to the TTOA members that helped pull me off that rock in lower diablo drop off. You guys saved me from a very long afternoon and possible night. Luckily I only recieved a bruised ego and not something worse.
Thanks again,
John

Glad we found you when we did, and glad we could help out! Really glad to see you on the board!

I hope you learned a little something for your bruised ego . . . Always carry a strap, and a few other recovery essentials *ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE WHEELING ALONE* . . . and always put your tires on the high spots in the trail - don't strattle the high spots!

Hope to see you on the board a little more, and maybe on an upcoming group run.
