NEEDED....Urgent....CV JOINT IN SO. CAL.

How's it goin everyone. I got a lil situation here...I need a CV Joint for my '02 Tacoma 4wd. Called the dealer....I'm just not about to pay $300+ for a CV Joint w/ a shaft when I don't even need the shaft. Local parts store won't sell the Joint by itself either(they're sellin it for bout $100)...Does anybody know where I can get JUST the CV Joint by itself? I'm in Riverside, CA...

Hopefully you'll read this thread Demello...I tried calling you earlier but no answer.

I'd really appreciate anyones input. Thanks!

Did you just tear a boot, or did the joint itself go? If just the boot, they're easy to get and relatively cheap.

Demello isnt in the shop on sat or sun, just like every other shop. And if he's in the shop on the weekend, he's probably working on something of his own and not answering the phone

You need the inner or the outer joint? I have an extra inner axle if that's all you're wanting...

good luck finding just the outer or inner joints. just get a rebuilt complete axle for under $100. the inner tripod joint from the dealer is over $200 alone. $300 sounds about right for the OE outer but you can get a Neufield cryoed/heat treated outer for under $250 from CV Unlimited. call George and tell him you just want the joint.

It's the inner CV Joint I will be needing...What had happend was the whole shaft pulled out and that inner CV Joint popped off even right off of the ring clamps.

The boots are fine it's just the inner side of the inner boot was pulled off of the joint housing...well the whole shaft with the joint was pulled outward..The CV Joint slipped off apparently and now i'm without it. If you do have the Inner joint available..would you be able to give me a price? I appreciate you feedback.

so, you hyperextended the joint, pulling it out of its casing? I did the same thing and fished all the needle bearings out of the grease and rebuilt the thing.

are you running a top-load spacer or longer travel front shocks?

your best bet on finding that tripod joint is to get a hold of a used/blown front axle from someone here. The tripods are nearly bullit proof so when an outer joint goes the inner is almost always fine.

What had happend was the 4 bolts under the lower ball joint came undone while I was offroading...I hit a small rut causing them to break and my whole driver side front suspension gave way...the wheel/tire was holding on just by the upper arm. The tire crushed my whole fender and I guess the joint slipped out and landed somewhere in the dirt..This was about 9pm...So I was left with no bolts under my lower ball joint. My only concern was to get my truck outta there so I jacked up the drivers side...removed 2 bolts caddy corner from the passenger side and put them caddy corner on the driver side. I drove it out of the hills extremely carefully and got it home safe. It wasn't till I started working on it in my garage when I noticed the Cv Joint was completly missing....I haven't found a ride to go back out to the scene of the incident to look for the joint. So in the meantime...i'm just lookin around to buying one.

I'm confused...you have a '02 so ADD. how did you drive it home with that axle flopping around?

had you ever removed those bolts?

Call cv unlimited they sell the inner tulips bearings for 75.00
