Default transmission noise

i have a 85 pickup with 32s. when i shift into 3rd and 5th theres some noise that comes from the transmission. can anyone tell me what that noise might be or how to fix it?

can you tell us a little more about the noise? grinding? crunching? squealing? whirring? beeping? (lol)

How many miles are on the truck? Has the clutch ever been replaced? check the clutch master/slave cyl. also check the play in the clutch pedal, it may need to be adjusted in/out.

suprisingly it only has 165000 miles on it..i really dont know if its been replaced or not. ive only had the truck for about a week.

i'm not very experienced with transmissions but a grinding doesnt sound good. worst case you're missing some teeth on a gear or something. hopefully someone a little more knowledgable chimes in about it
