Default WTB 4.30 rear NON TRD Third

I recently purchased a front manual hub diff and rear non TRD 3rd with 4.10's. Turned out that the Front diff has 4.30's and the rear 3rd has 4.10s. Didnt realize until I drove in 4x4 and the problem was noticed immedately.

So now I would like to find a rear 3rd NON TRD with 4.30's or a Front manual hub diff with 4.10's. Would actually prefer to find the rear with 4.30's.

EDIT---- ALL I AM LOOKING FOR NOW IS A 4.30 NON TRD REAR THIRD

Thanks
Brendan Missoula Montana

ya know...i MIGHT have one. i got a 99 taco, 4cyl 5spd, non trd, reg cab...been in a wreck, so im just selling parts here and there to people who need em. to tell ya the truth, im really unsure of the gear ratio...i'll go check it out and see what i can come up with, unless you know someone who KNOWS their stuff about gear ratios in certain models or something. anyone possibly know of a chart or something that will tell me, or where to look? ive never had to look for the ratio, so i dont really know where to start to be completely honest.

I learned the hard way about checking what gear ratios are for certian. I am convinced that the only way to be sure is to pull the third and count up the teeth on the pinion and ring gear. You can also turn the pinion flange and see how many rotations it takes of the pinion to make a full turn of the tire/axle. The one thing to be careful of is that 4.10 and 4.30 are damn close. I learned that if the pinion goes just slightly past 4 turns in most likely is 4.10. If the pinion takes closer to 4 and a quarter turns it is most likely 4.30. They are pretty close and I learned the hard way by mistaking a 4.30 front diff for a 4.10 diff and did the install and didnt realize until I put it in 4wheel, I was lucky that 4.30 and 4.10 are close and my xfer case didnt grenade.

So if you could check oh so closely on the ratio and let me know it would be much appreciated. If you are parting it out the best way to know would be to pull the third member(easy to do) and count up the teeth on the pinion and ring gears. Let me know.

Thanks
Brendan

Bump for you-
I know that 4.30's are the most difficult to come by when it comes to Tacoma R&P
Fortunately I managed to locate & obtain 2 complete front & rear diffs w/4.30's
They are already spoken for though
1 set will go into my Tacoma (I have to regear my ARB )
the other set is in Murderman's Tundra

I agree about counting the teeth or counting the rotations of the drive shaft

As a word of advice- If you purchase or sell OEM ring & Pinion gears....
PLEASE BE CAREFUL when removing, handling, & shipping them

I would have had a 3rd matched set, but they were poorly packaged and damaged during shipping

so i finally counted the teeth...came up with 41 on the ring and 10 on the pinion. then when i was done counting, i was checking it out and 41.0 was printed on the ring...but either way, the truck has 4.10's. sorry about that, but if your willing to just replace the front diff instead, let me know. now im POSSITIVE i have a 4.10 manual hub front diff, so at least then you would have matching front and rear gears, so you can actually 4wheel again. if your interested in that, PM me. its easier to read my PM's than to keep browsing the forum til i remember to check this thread.

by the way, the truck was rarely used in 4wd. i used it more for prerunner style offroading and i rarely locked the hubs. it was only used on a few easy little trails, and to get unstuck in the sand every once in a while, so it should be in REALLY good condition.
