So I finally got gears, and an ARB for the front. I bought a rear third off craigslist already assembled with 4.56 and an ARB. Now I have the gears and another ARB for the front. Does anyone know a cheap place to get the install done well, or will walk me through it for a case of beer? I have the newer clamshell design diff, and its my d/d so it would have to be able to be done in a weekend.

I'd love to help but I'm buried right now. I still need to finish Tacoblanca97 diffs. Crazy stuff at the dealer is slowing me up big time.
I need to get a good setup to build differentials at home.

The ARB install instructions are good for that part, but you need to setup the gears too. There are a few writeups on the'net about it.
Unfortunately, this is something I REALLLLY recommend you take to a pro, like thefatkid. Of course, if the truck has to be driveable every day, that's gonna be tough ... unless ... do you have manual hubs or ADD?

Or a spare diff, which I just happen to have. Holler if you're interested.

I've got ADD, I'm in Aurora. I've got a complete third already set up for the rear, before I throw that in, I want to make sure it was set up right. But, for some reason all the auto parts places around here look at me stupid when I ask for gear marking compound...one guy suggested I use toothpaste... LOL

I want to learn how it works, and how to fix it just in case it breaks on the trail. There's not really a rush, I just want it done before summer is over, ideally before labor day weekend, we're going to Ouray. I don't need regeared and locked to do Black Bear, Imogene or the Alpine Loop. Much more of a want than a need. Heh heh

If you break bad enough to need to know how to setup gears on the trail, you got WAAAY bigger problems to worry about.
Sounds like you need to take Doug up on his spare diff offer...

You could try Justin M. (Squishy!) - also a Toyota tech, or Robbie A. (powderpig) formerly of Slee Off Road. Both do work on the side (for Robbie, he works for himself).

Also Jacob of Toycrawlers.com is a Toy Tec in Westminster who does gears.

Does anyone know if I can drive around without a front diff while it's getting worked on? I do not have manual hubs.

No - your front is semi-floating, the CV helps hold the bearing together and the wheel on the truck.
