Ok guys i have this question: what is the weight difference in the early Tacoma 4 cylinder and the late tacoma 4 cylinder (pre-05)? i don't know a whole lot about them that is why im asking. i also heard that the early motor was iron block and the newer model was an aluminum block, is this true? and how does the iron block motor compare to the v6 in weight? i know it may seem like a lot of dumb questions, but this info is going to help me greatly with my SAS.

I have a 3RZ long block out of an '04, and it's most definitely iron, and heavy as hell. I don't know about the new ones or the 5VZ, but I wouldn't doubt that an aluminum-block V6 would be lighter or only a little heavier than the iron-block 3RZ.

well i have a 2000 tacoma, with a v6 and i got a killer deal on some front leaf springs, BUT they are for a 4 cylinder taco. they were ordered through Alcan for a 95.5 taco.
i just need to know if that iron block is heavier or just as heavy as the v6 (whatever zrlsghalgaoigjka code you call it) lol:

The 3RZ is about 375-400 lbs... the 5VZ is almost 600 lbs. This is completely assembled w/ all accessories. Both were iron blocks from day 1 until they were replaced w/ a bigger or different version in the newer Tacomas.

As far as I know, all 95-04 2.7L engines were all iron blocks.
