Safety first!

So i had a close call tonight and it got me thinking. I know we have all done some stupid and "redneck" stuff at one time or another so make sure that you do some simple things to keep things from getting out of hand whenever possible. (and this is a thread that everyone can contribute to with stories or just plain good advice)


From me: Tonight i was pulling the coilovers off my truck cause i found a buyer for them (dont get all up-ity, im just getting a different size) and do to the extreme amount of down travel i know have and the fact that i dont have a lift, i have to resort to using a high lift jack on my sliders. Well i one side down and it was resting on a jack stand then i went to do the other side.......got about to the stopping point and the truck dropped.....just plain dropped, slammed onto the bumpstop on the other side and the whole thing shook the driveway. (i have an 05 Double Cab with plenty of shit on it.....its pushing over 2 tons)

What happend: The frame kind of wedged the jackstand extension against the lever inside the shaft of the jack stand, therefore causing the jack stand shaft to slam all the way down to the bottom. IF my bumpstop had failed.....i would have probably done some damage.



Lesson: IF YOU CAN.....ALWAYS PUT SOMETHING UNDER YOUR TRUCK WHEN YOU LIFT/JACK IT UP!

In all seriousness though, safety is something that should be taken very seriously.

Always use eye protection...even when you don't think it necessary!

I have had the optometrist have to use tool (looks like a dremil) to get metal shavings out of my eyes. the irritation can be quite agonizing.

Even simple, quick tasks can cause eye damage.
