Default Barney Reservoir

I was looking at a map of the Trask Unit awhile ago and found another reservoir about 5 miles West of Hagg Lake. The only road I could find to it was gated this summer, so I figured I was screwed. A couple days ago while I was trying to get into the hills to play in the snow I discovered that the gates where opened. I think they are Weyerhauser gates, but not entirely sure.

Anyway here are a few pics:
Snow! At last!

Didn't show up to well in this picture, but from there you can see St. Helens, Mt. Hood, Adams, and a couple other mountains.

There is only one gravel road that runs along one side of the reservoir. From what I saw there were no access improvements to it, such as, boat ramps and docks. No parking lots or facilities. Its a lot "wilder" than Hagg Lake, a lot funner to get to, and its not teeming with yuppie scum. I think I'll be fishing here instead of Hagg Lake, until its gated again.

Its off of Hwy 47 about 5 miles south of Forest Grove. Its actually a really nice lake except something is screwed up with its dam so rumor is they are going to build a second further down stream instead of fixing the current one.

If your going to be driving around up there make sure u have ur cb on, Because the log trucks will run you off the road up there. If you don"t have permisson to be in there you can also get a tresspassing ticket so make sure you respect who ever you run into up there and tred lightly.
That is one of my favorite spots. You can even get to Browns camp it's only about three miles northwest of there.

I don't doubt they do. I've had a few close calls with some of the side roads around Hagg Lake. I've noticed trash is pretty bad in some spots. I'm going to start taking up a few garbage bags with me whenever I head up there. Don't Weyerhauser and Willamette Industries own most that land? As long as I stay on the main roads I'm safe from trespassing issues, aren't I? The people I've met up there have all been real chill so far.

You pretty much made my day with that bit of info. I've been looking for routes from Yamhill to Browns Camp via backroads, but so far no luck. I may have to try that this Sunday.

I ended up screwing around up there again today. Got a Garmin Nuvi for Christmas so I was testing it out.
