Anyone running a one piece drive shaft?

Search brought up few hits. Who here has abandoned their two piece drive line, and went for a single aftermarket unit? Thinking of going this route...really not that expensive when you figure in labor to repair a factory line.

On an extra cab taco I think you would just be moving from a fairly safe driveline to a rock magnet.

thats why i have never done it.. however when i swap my engine and tcase mounts over to poly (pretty much solid) I am going to find a industrial carrier bearing without the rubber. one thats just the bearing mounted in steel/aluminum surrounding and mount it to a piece of 1x2 that dosent mover around..

Pretty sure I need a new carrier, and my U-joint is also suspect. If the cardon is jacked too, it is going to be a pain in the ass. I also think the rubber around the carrier allows too much play.

Yea i think once the center shaft is fully supported in place with solid mounting the only shaft that I will have a problem with is the 2 piece one... and I dont see many problems with that happening

You really need to take the driveshaft profile as well as the terrain you normally wheel into account. It's not really a matter of preferring one style over the other or one being better than the other based on design alone.

Consider this: If you're climbing ledges in an xtra cab, a long one-piece will get trashed quickly. If you have a 2-piece and a short wheelbase, then you're pinion angle will be super steep with a pissed off pinion bearing.

If you're mudding or mall crawling it doesn't make that much of a difference.

PIAA 520 fogs up front Scan GaugeII mounted in my dash Shell, it helps to cover stuff. 2.5" DR coil spacer up front and a home brew 5 leaf in the rear.
