Default from 15 mpg to 30 mpg

either my gas gauge is wrong or im just getting awesome gas mileage but after takeover on the trip home i got just about 30 mpg with the truck fully loaded going about 65, i only burned half a tank after 250 miles. how likely is it for the gas guage to go out like that, i didnt smash my tank or anything like that..

My guess is there is a prob with the gas gauge or it became mis-calibrated
Top off the tank & see how much you put in.

My bro's gas gauge has been mis-calibrated for a long time- Once he has gone through 15 gal - the gauge displays 1/3 tank left- Fortunately - his low fuel light will come on.

WOW.

I havn't checked mine yet, but I know it's good.

Somehow I forgot to reset my odometer when I filled up in gilmer, but I think I can go by your 255 miles because we were together the whole way.

I will post up tomorrow when I get a number.

surely taking that brush guard off didnt affect your mileage that much... i wouldnt think so. i got it put on today and i really havent gone anywhere. i'll watch the mileage though to see if it drops any and let you know. i'm willing to bet it's that cb thats givin u electrical problems. seems like i read something in the manual that said hookin one up could potentially cause screwy problems. good luck and thanks for the guard

Must be something with daylight savings
...Or perhaps you were drafting another vehicle, downhill, with the wind behind you the entire time

are you SURE you didn't tank up and forget to reset your speedo, especially at $2.29/gal

I think it was because we were drafting behind Shannon and Jon, the whole time. That makes a big difference. I haven’t calculated mine yet but I know it is better than average.

i guess it could be that or the speed i was traveling. the electrical bug is just plain weird though. it only did it twice since i got home and never did it again. does anyone know if the domelight is on a relay? i thought i had blown a fuse somehow until i turned the key and it started working again.

I just figured mine... 255 miles (Lindsay's number) and 9.891 gallons.

25.7 MPG.

That's not too shabby at all coming from a truck that's been called "Too big" and sports 245 horsepower!

Yes, we were drafting downhill at 65 MPH. so what?

I'm happy!

Fast Frank

Hey- I called it!

Reminds me of a Car & Driver spot on TV that was trying to Maximize gas mileage from a Hybrid several years ago-
They Cheated by setting up a Ford Excursion with its rear hatch doors open and a customized mud flap/dust skirt-
That Hybrid got ABSURD mileage /gal.

During last years caravan to Katemcy, Vince managed to consume atleast 2 gal less than the rest of us...His tires were set to 50 psi!

I bet it's your speed. The first time I went out there I was following in line behind Shannon and another guy towing a rig. I wasn't right behind them, but going about 55 the whole way got me over 250 miles to 1/2 a tank. Now if I could only FORCE myself to go 55 all the time!

What is sad is that even though we know our mileage will improve if driving less than 60 mph- We still won't do it.

Just filled mine up and it ended up being 22 miles per gallon and that was with about 40 miles of city driving today.

I always drive slow start off and speed limit right after I fill up, I tell myself I am going to follow through so that I can get better gas miles but then I wake up the next morning and there I go again Drag racing and doing about 80.
