Default 3.4 swap

Ok so I think I have found a sweet deal on a low mialage 3.4 to swap into my 85 4runner. Cureently I am running a 22re with a swapped in r151f. It is my understanding that the r150 from the tacoma's and ifs pickups is esentialy the same as the r151f only they have a different bellhousing pattern and are set up to take the chain driven t-case. So my question is this. can I just take the bellhousing from the r150 in the tacoma and bolt it onto my r151f and go. It sems way to simple after reading some of the things that people have done in the way of adapters and such to do this swap but heres hoping. I have searched and can not get a straight answer from any body. Do any of you Know?

Sorry but no. there is a difference between the 88-95 R150 and the 95+ R150. The input shaft and bell housing on the newer ones is longer by about an inch. You CAN take a 3.0 V6 bellhousing and bolt it to the R151F and to the 3.4. That will get you waht you want.

Thanks for the help. That sounds easy enough, and is what I kind of suspected but like i said in the original post I could not nail down a solid answer. So as far as a clutch do I just use one for a 3.0?

I'm pretty sure you use the 3.0 clutch stuff but I know it says in this thread.
Enjoy!!!

Swapping in a 5VZ-FE in place of a 22RE is a little harder than the 3VZ-E but it can be done. The motor mounts need to moved IIRC. Not sure what else is different. Bill's "Red Chili" was once a 22RE: http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showfl...fpart=all&vc=1
