Trails close to Littleton

What are the closest trails to 285/C470? I live right near that intersection and am wondering if there are any trails I don't know about really close, say within a 30 minute's drive. The closest one I know of is Slaughter House Gulch, and that's about a half an hour drive.

What level of difficulty?

That looks like the closest ....I've done Schubarth Road down in the springs ...but that was easy. Its rated a "Moderate" but I did it stock, by myself about 5-6 months ago with bald tires.

Maybe Spring Creek near idaho springs?

I'm just looking through the " Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4 Wheel Drive Trails" books...

i dont think its 30 minute drive, but could be. Spring creek? or bill moore lake? thinkin those might be a bit longer than 30 but maybe not, cant remember

that's not a bad trek to make for a trail ride. If you find something or want to head out for a trail run some time, let me know and post it on the "plan a trail run" section of this forum for others to join.

Um, there really isn't a whole lot really close. Get the 4-wheel drive book as before mentioned. It is the best book for actual technical 4-wheeling I have found. But I believe Little_Red is right, the few of us who actually do trail runs travel from the Springs to Ft. Collins, just depends. I just did Carnage last weekend in Boulder and Moody Hill/Crystal Mountain in Ft. Collins yesterday and I was suppose to do Eagle Rock in the Spring today if it hadn't of been for an emergency that required me to drive to Steamboat last night. A lot of trails are too snow covered to be completed or are currently closed. Keep up to date with our plan a trail run section, we usually cross reference with Yotatech... there's always something going on... Ok my

My rig is the white Tacoma.

Yea I will definately keep up to date on any runs people may be planning, cause I wanna make every one I can.

I'm only about 10 minutes south of you, when I get my lift and tires on this week I'll holla at ya for a wheeling trip.

You'll rarely have trouble finding people to wheel with here.

As for the difficulty ratings you're looking at ....Check out some of the pictures of " Carnage " on these forums. I currently have a stock TRD and wouldn't take it up there....but then again ......thats all changing

I'll hit you up for a run soon ...

If you don't want to do Carnage, you definately don't want to do "Spring Creek". Leave them off the radar till you have at least 33's, sliders, lockers, and a good spotter.
Bill Moore lake is fun and not as challenging as SC, or Carnage, but it is a very high altitude trail that is surely snowed in by now.
Central City/St Mary's has a huge network of trails that are usually open most of the year and thay are sort of close.

That or have no brains like me and run the damn thing with only 3" of lift, 285/75R16 tires and open with no protection... I've run Carnage and Spring Creek... lotsa fun

But I agree with you, not going to send someone to hell and back, or like me Hell's Revenge and back...

Um a good one to start that I liked was Middle St. Vrein and Coney Flats. Its a good judgement as to how ready you are for tackling the good stuff
