I was supposed to be in FL this week, but the trip got canceled so I decided to take the week off. Got bored with the PS2, so I decided to take the 4runner for a spin, since it never seems to get out of the garage. It's a little cold with the top off, but the heat kicks butt.
I also decided to play with the new CO2 set up I just finished building. Painted it greean to match the Taco and it ended up looking like a freaking O2 bottle for some senior citizen. Oh well, I aired the runner down to 15 psi and timed how long it took to fill it back to 35 psi. 41 sec ! That's pretty damn fast. I think it could be faster since I stopped several times to check the PSI. The inline pressure gauge on the inflator is pretty nice, just let off and it gives you a reading. It needs a handle though, weighs in around 40lbs full and is just awkward. Another $40 + SH.
I also tried to see if I could reseat a bead, but I must be retarded.
I couldn't break the bead!. I resorted to running the tire over repeatedly with the 4runner. It was fun, but it didn't do the trick. I've seen the high lift trick, but since I have no high lift, that was out.
Oh yeah and I learned that the valve core can shoot a considerable distance if you aren't paying attention when you pull it air down, can you say N E W B?
Some people learn by watching it, some by hearing it, others by doing it. I learn by repeatedly screwing it up, unitl I've exhuasted all of the possiblities.
Later

Was made by a company called BPI Fab. Their "Trail Tuff" series, I don't think they do Tacos anymore except maybe as custom orders. But it is a kick ass bumper.

I was about to ask that too. It looks like the Poison Spider bumper built for the Ultimate Taco, which was supposed to go into mass production but to my knowledge never has.
I was gonna post a link but the pic has been removed from their website since I last looked.
Get rid of that yellow coily hose. Man I hated mine. It sucked ass! But um if you like it then to each their own... *grin* Sick runner BTW. A sexy beast for shure!

A word to the wise, or at least, a word to the future poor, pic one truck, mod it, sell the mods on the other truck and bring it back to stock. Why mod two trucks? I geuss if you are rich, however, most of us aren't, haha. BTW, my 4runner has the EXACT same stance, nice and high in front (although wicked stiff) and low in the back...wtf...
If I were bored, sitting in what appears to be semi-decent weather, and had a garage, I would spend the time sanding, patching, and rattle-canning that 4runner! Get on it!
My Taco is pretty tame. I did some stuff before I really knewwhat I wanted and then decided to go with the 4runner. If I break something on it I won't sweat it and it's alot cheaper to get it fairly capable.

Every time I walk by it I get an overwhelming urge to start doing just that. And then I stop and stare at this for a while. That's the worst spot of rust, but that section is just gone. I don't think any amount of filler is going to bring it back. I try and remind myself that I bought this rig to attend the School of Rock, and not to worry about the body

If you have the 4runner to wheel, why do any off road related stuff to the Tacoma? Sell whatever mods you have, put that money towards the runner.

At the same time, you still want to pass inspection (don't know how strict they are where you live) plus, rust doesn't just make a hole and stop. It continues so eat away, I would cut that out, maybe weld in or have someone else weld in a ghetto patch, hit it with some filler and paint. Touch up the other spots a bit and rattle can it. That way the body lasts as long as the rest of the truck. I bought mine to wheel it also, since I don't have to worry about the body, but I don't want it to rot away on me either, dents are fine, rust is not, IMO. Just my .

What? and not look totally cool driven my truck around the mall! This is a trick to try and get me to sell my ultra cool junk! What part do you want? My blingin bumper? I"LL NEVER SELL!
Seriously, I am wheeling the Taco for now, as I build the 4runner. I hope to have the runner done in May. Plus I don't have any of the stock bumper left

You lucky bastard, inspection here sucks ass, they get you for too much rust, tires outside the fenders, and so many other things it isn't even funny! They fail you for a gas cap that can't hold a certain amount of pressure!
I just put my 98 taco back to stock, didn't want to break it anymore, so I am not in need, haha. I was suggesting this because you can buy a stock bumper from someone on here pretty damn cheap and sell your bumper for a fair amount. Thus providing cash to throw a good lift on the runner!

Inspection? What's that? I live in South Carolina, we don't need no stinking inspections! Hell just the few things you mentioned would fail about 2/3 of the cars in this state. Half the people here have never seen anything but a oily rag for a gas cap.
Plus I live in a "country" town, if your truck sports enough lift and big tires(front drive shaft optional) you can be in the town parade!

I live out in Elgin, "Home of the Catfish Stomp" (Apparrently it's a dance and there are no catfish involved). If you where at the NC TTORA URE Ride in Nov I was there in the green DC and ripped my mudflaps of on the first obstacle we hit.
I always have an extra seat (Double cabs rule!), next time I venture out I'll try to remember to PM you. Speaking of which, I am going to try and go out with the GA boys in early Jan.

Yeah i meant to ask yesterday if you would go. You SC guys oughta hang on the GA board, we wont mind.
Thanks man, I already cleared it with the wife. What's the plan? I saw some pics of the trail on the board and the rigs looked pretty hardcore, It's about a 3.5 hr drive for me according to mapquest. My rigs open/open on 33's I've got basic recovery gear, onboard air, no winch. Have any of the GA guys that are going run this trail before, if so what's it like?

Ive confused myself.
Are you going on our Dawsonville ride or to our Tellico ride? Dawsonville is the 7th or 8th I cant remember what date we're hitting Tellico.
Ive never wheeled Dawsonville.
As for Tellico:
Yeah you'd be good to go in regular conditions but I cant say for snow, I havent wheeled Tellico in snow before. But I have wheeled it in dry and wet conditions. Trails 4 & 5 are easy, 6 is moderate (fairly easy on 33's and open/open). I dont know what other trails we'll do. Im 33's locked rear.
