Are there any setups that carry a spare more towards the rear, say on the left or right side behind the fenderwells (towards the tailgate). I carry my dog in the back all the time and to throw a tire right in his spot would probably ruin his year.

i just ordered one of those, should get it next week. mine is a little different though. i had them make tire mount, two jerry can mounts, mounts for the highlift, and mounts for an axe and shovel. should be cool. steve at cbi is a great guy to work with, he will make you anything just the way you want it and customer service is wonderful!

I think I'm going to make one similar to that. I like how it doesn't obstruct your view too bad. I'll probably use square tube just so I don't have to bend anything.

I had it made to sit at a level that does not block my rear view at all. I see a about a half inch of the tire (33"x11.50") and it's inline with the top of my tailgate.

I can send you a pic from my old carrier. I got it from RJR Products. I liked it but it blocked my rear view so I had Steve at CBI Offroad make me a custom one just like the one Seth has in the pic and I love it. Fabtech - works good and the end of the threaded wing bolt has a hole in it for a pad lock. It also keeps the tire fairly low and out of the way in the bed. The manufacturer says the largest tire it can accomodate is a 35", but I'm sure it could be massaged to handle larger

Steve at CBI offroadfab made it for me! Its really great. I told him what I had in mind and I swear he built it as I had invisioned. He is now offering it as an option. Heres the link to it on his site.

I really like the new bed setup. I have plenty of storage, and I can see out my back window. I still use the roof rack for camping but I really dont mind having the tent and stuff up there. All the heavy stuff stays in the bed.
