Default mechanic bs and problems

so i get my 881 springs and after slowly removing the 3 upper nuts on the tower by turning them in and out ( with a box wrench) while spraying nut breaker on them, i bring them to my mechanics to have the springs swapped. he puts it in the compressor and with out any lube or cleaning puts the impact wrench on it. both shocks get about 1/4 turn and sieze up. could not turn them in or out. then he says i need new shocks. which i could see with my own eyes cause there was no way to turn those nuts. a careful backing in and out while misting them with som wd-40 woulda done it before masacre. he says the threads were too rusted. well i did fucking seated rows with a pipe on the end of my socket 2 weeks ago taking off the nuts on my u-bolts which were considerably more rusted than the strut. so i dont buy what he's telling me. then he tells me not to get good shocks like bills or OME or anything, just oem will work fine. So should i get new good shocks or say fuck it and go with a saw 2.0 or toytec coilover?
thanks for letting me vent.
bob

well shocks would be considerably cheaper than coilovers but in the long run you would probly be happier with coilovers. also if the oem shocks are as expensive as the rest of the oem stuff then bil. or ome would probly be cheaper. also the ome would match the spring rate of ur 881s giving you the best ride out of ur omes.

oh yeah, so the ome coil kit from toytec was 209 so then add the 150 or so for new shocks. thats 360, for another 340 i can get toytecs with lifetime warrenty i think.

I just used a 9mm wrench to hold shaft on the top of the shock and turned the nut...no big deal.

just get a set of replacement HD bilstein's. these with your OME 881's will be just right. figure $100-$150 for the shocks.

1st, goto bilstein.com and find your shock #'s, then search the net like mad. shox.com is a starting point. if you search hard enough you may find them for $60each or less.

to get back your shock tower bring them to a local spring place and have the shock shaft torched off (top, middle, wherever), they'll need to put it in a spring compressor to keep it from launching. you might just need to get some new shaft rubber bushings, but my bils came with new rubbers.

i found that i need these bils http://www.bilstein.com/mistore/prod...pany_id=100484 if that link does not work, this is the part number F4-B46-2284-H0
i do not think these come with any of the hardware i need to mount the spring on them. can i get new shit at the dealership? mines kida rusty and not worth hacking up the old assembly to salvage the parts. also, the shocks in the pic are not the same as what i need. i know it says that the pics may very. im just checking before i go any further. do those look like the right ones, they were the only ones that came up for my truck.

the shocks will come with spring perch, perch snap-ring, and upper rubbers/washers/nuts, they will not come with the shock tower plate (the top piece that the shock bolts to).

if your shock towers are the same as 2002 shock towers, then i have a set for you, FREE (just pay for shipping and they're yours).
