Quick question... Does the 4x4 green icon stay on all the time when this is done?

I would double check your splicing and made sure you did the correct one. Don't go stractly off wire colors, count the number of wires over on the connector...

ok just did the mod, took 20 mins or so. very eazy mod but some reason the rrdiff light stays on even though i turned it off. I used the cutting method and reattach a new wire to ground it. i can hear the elocker turn on and off but the light stays on no matter what the elocker is doing. any suggestions? yes, i did cut the gray wire, i double checked it before i posted on here just in case.

I have a sticker on my door that tells me not to drive over 5 MPH when locked. Should I listen to it? I have only used it in the snow on a hill.
BTW its a 99 TRD Prerunner Last edited by XsuperflyX; 05-14-2007 at 06:08 PM. |

I also drag race my Double Cab Prerunner with the diff locked, but I take it easy when making turns. You will hear the tires drag. So up to 90 mph with it locked I go!
No problems yet. Dirtfarmer

I'm bringing back an old thread, the write up on CustomTacos was pretty straight forward, but would that mod work on my 07? Most of the people that did it had older models.

Did this on my 01. Works great. The diagram for the white plug was a little off. Instead of 9 wires, mine had 11. Still, the gray wire was obvious and in the mddle of the clip by its self.
Notes: Driver side kick panel, 4x computer, ground the gray wire going into the white plug, plug it back in. Lock it under 5mph. Stop to unlock. Roll out to get the light to turn off. Flashing light means it is engaging, solid light means its locked up.

So I take it once you have done this mod you can operate the locker in any range selection. 2WD, 4HI and 4LO. Only thing is engage and disengage it while you are stopped and while driving you will feel resistance when turning on pavement, correct?

Do a few searches on this website. Use the search tool, I am pretty sure, one of the links talk about the other colors that the grey wire might be on other years like yours.
The other idea... find the wire position number, maybe yours is in the same position just a different color... but there are some really smart guys out there that I am sure know your truck...

It is pin-8 (but I don't know how they are ordered). On a 98 Taco I think it may be dark-green wire.
