Default Bye to Tellico River/Trail 5 Water Crossing

Well the bridge over 'Rough Crossing' at the Tellico River on Trail 5 is progressing quickly. I wonder how long before they build one at Fain's Ford on Trail 4? AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!! The new bridge would certainly make a Fain's Ford Bridge project easier. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK!

I've got no problem with them trying to protect the streams to keep the silt out. It's a small price to pay to keep the place open to the public. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens to Fains in the near future.

i wouldn't have a problem w/ a bridge also if it in the best interest to keep the park open for another day. w/ a major investment such as these bridges i doubt they would consider closing the park.

A lack of a bridge on 5 never kept the rock truck out.

And 4 is going to get a bridge, eventually. Not sure of exact date. But its on the calendar.

I bet it kept the concrete trucks out. I'll bet that bridge at Fain's Ford will be built pretty quickly too.

I have seen that one from a while ago, I was wondering if they had already put a deck on it or not?

I actually ran into Crawl Runner here this past monday. Rest easy in knowing NO progress has been made on the bridge... I assume that will all change as the weather turns warm...

That's correct.

I also learned that the Fain's Ford Bridge design is almost complete. The work is planned for bidding & construction in '07!

Greg, try and post up a pic so these guys know atleast somebody is still wheelin'!

Should we change our name to GATTA?

Man, you know we have always only had about 5-7 that actually wheel, in our chapter. And, about 5 of us are working on our trucks, right now.

I don't so much 'wheel' but I am always up for anything my truck CAN do, and for riding with anyone whose truck can do what mine CAN'T. Just let me know when and where.

Yeah, it sucks about Fain's, but wha can ya do? I'd rather the trails stay open and not have the creek, anymore. What picture are you talking about of me?

Yeah, that makes sense, too. I'm afraid even with a locked 2WD, the trails would be pretty limited without alot of effort from your right foot. We seem to be running out of spare seats, lately, though with people who don't want to wheel their trucks, just wanna ride with someone. Just get a 4wd!

Ed you feel like giving out a trailer for X-Mas? I would be glad to go but you fork out that much cash this time of year to buy a trailer so I can go wheeling. You will think twice I promise.

interesting... i agree, people like to hammer it when in the stream/creek to get out the other side, and that type of damage is the main concern.
there are many other methods for crossing water that can be employed, but dumbass leadfoots tend to rip those out too. we use many different methods for crossing streams in the forest industry, but our drivers go in and out without spinning tires and making ruts (they have to come back down with full loads).

anyway, hopefully this helps keep this area opened longer. maybe some educational signage would help too!

very true! the bridge will just give all the fullsize trucks a good excuse to smoke up their tires. I think it really is against the law, at Tellico, to cross a bridge without atleast chirping a tire. maybe, they will learn when they slide sideways off the bridge.

Could the DD Tundra handle a small goose neck? A buddy got a smokin' great deal on one but it's still too narrow for his skid steer w/tracks .... hmmmmmm?

I know the dolly aint the way to go FOR SURE!

I'm just sore because we WERE right on par w/NCTTORA w/trip frequency but they went to Uharrie (sp) last weekend.

Its just that time of year Ed. Most people are broke $$ for one reason or another. Cant say the weather's been bad. Its been great. Just have limited funds right now and lately Ive been hunting much more than wheeling. Just a lull. Im sure others are in the same situation.

Actually Ive been yearning to come visit but it hasnt been in the cards lately. Its not like we're fond of Atlanta.
