OBDII.....plug and play for emissons and what not.....My question is if the airbag light is on will it fail inspection off the computer? I know if the check engine light is on it will fail......just because that usually means and emissons problem or what not. Did a search couldnt come up with anything.

In Texas it will. You need to find local requirements for safety inspections. Chances are though it'll fail in any state that has a safety inspection.

Actually tdplus10, I have NEVER failed a state inspection, SC, NC & TX for the airbag light being on my BMW Z3, and I have had her new since 1999. I have had my car inspected at both dealers and normal garages and individual state inspection sites with no issues.
Anyways, the airbag is not NECESSARY to safely drive your car. Just your lights, wipers, brakes, tires and windshield, to name a few.

I'm curious to find out too. I had mine come on just a day or two after my last inspection, I'll need it fixed before July if it's going to fail.

Depends on the state. Each one is different.
It would certainly fail a CT safety inspection(like when you sell it). It would pass the emission inspection (just the odb2 test). Pull/cover the light. I'd bet that'd fool 99% of the guys I've seen "working" at inspection stations here. |

An airbag light will fail a safety inspection in Virginia too.

I have a small SAC.

It will in fail in Mass. if the light is on. If you disconnect everything or unplug the light it should pass since I dont think the OBD reads the airbag. I think it only reads emission related info for MA inspection.

Mine came on one time after I unplugged something in my dash and wouldn't go off. Read my main req'd thread in the cheap tricks folder and follow those same steps, it turned my light off. Maybe it'll work for you too.

Mine has been on for over a year and I'm finally searching the Service manual for diagnosis and what not, but no it didn't fail a class 2 (which is one up from the usual make sure the VIN on the hood and visible area match and what not) inspection in AZ. OBD II will not pick up air bag lights.
