Trail Preparedness Ideas

The following list contains items that would be needed to attend a local club run. The first list are mandatory items, the second list is recommended items, use your best judgement on all off road trips.

Never go out on the trail alone! Remember "Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong".

Mandatory Items:

Full tank of Gas and maybe a backup
Seatbelts (this should be a no brainer)
Full size spare tire and tools needed to change it (including wheel lock)
Vehicle jack (stock one OK, Hi-Lift would be better, floor jack maybe)
Front and rear tow point attachments (stock front points are OK, reciever hook works good in rear)
Drinking water (it is the desert you know)
Water for your vehicle (it is the desert you know)
Inflation Device (CO2 Tank or Air Compressor, If you air down or maybe have to reseat a bead)

Recommended Items:

QUALITY TOW STRAP (without metal hooks on either end)
CB radio
More water
First aid kit
Fire extinguisher
Tools (basic kit)
Basic repair parts (hoses, belts, fluids, etc.)
Maps/ gps
Food
Extra clothing, hat, sunscreen etc.
Common sense
Sense of humor

Also, make sure that you have a full tank of gas before going out in the desert. If there is a place to gas up and top off before you hit the trail, do so. Ideally, if capable, bring extra gas. This is not always possible, but should be considered.

There are always more, but this a good start.

Good point Hector.

Not everybody airs down, but yes, you're right. You should have some type of inflation, whether it be Co-2, or a good compressor.

And as far another person/vehicle, well that's why we're all here.

Just to let you know, I made this a regular thread now since it was getting cluttered and I made a new one for the Trail Preparedness Checklist which is a sticky and locked as to not get cluttered.
