Cullowhee Overniter June 16-17

The boys and I are taking our trucks up to Cullowhee on Saturday morning
to ride Caney Fork, camp out there, and ride Moses Creek back out.
Its a pretty cool place, easy-to-moderate, there are places that require
4x4 to get through.
Anyone want to join us? Its located just NE of Franklin NC, about 2.5 hr
from North Metro.

Yep, it's a nice long trail and the plateau at the end is an amazing view. I think there's even more stuff up there to explore than we did last time, huh?

I think if you had aggressive tires and perhaps a locker you'd be ok. actually, there's prolly only two or three places we'd have to pull you up.

i want to go!...but i cant

this looks like th kind of place i would love. challenging enough to get stuck, but not get stuck ALL the time. could we try to make another trip up there later this year??

) and megan has to work on the 16th as well

and is still kinda timid about wheelin in my truck again (since the tree thing)

Matt, you should probably stay home! I don't think your Prerunner could handle Cullowhee. LOL! Just kidding, with the locker in the rear you should be fine. It's not that challenging at all. The best thing about Cullowhee is the scenery! Fall is the best time to go!

This is true. I just got word from a NC friend of mine who said the rangers are going to close Moses Creek and/or Caney Fork at the end of this summer..... that's bad news to me...

That would have been a possibility a few weekends ago, but I'm moving to southern WV on Monday the 18th so this coming weekend is going to be spent boxing, cleaning, and packing. Plus, I have to save as much cash as possible just for gas with 3 vehicles making this move!

Gas is 2.91 here! What a headache! I hate moving!

I had a conversation with Jason today, he's the dude who goes to school at Western Carolina U, right there, and he showed me these trails. He described another one, just a mile down the road. So we'll be doing some scouting, probably on Sunday. I KNOW there will be at least TWO trips up there this fall, because its absolutely unbelievable to be out there.
