Default Newb from N. GA

Hey all! New to forum from Dawsonville GA.

I have an 01 Taco 4x4 TRD and look forward to wheeling / talking with you guys. I noticed you guys go to Coopers Creek area every once in a while. I used to ride all those roads on my KLR (dual sport motorcycle) and can't wait to go in the taco! Any of you guys/gals ever ride the trails at Amacolola falls?

Welcome Josh! I work in Dawsonville, small world.

Yea, keep an eye out, Misterzee typically gets a CC ride going, their fun too.

I seem to remember reading on this forum that the Amicalola trail was closed due to erosion issues. But maybe it's open now?

Have you been up to.. I can't remember the name... it's off 9 on paper company land.. I'll have to get the name of the place...durn memory of mine....

Amacalola might be closed now. The last time I went thru there was on my KLR (dual sport motorcycle) and the only other vehicle I saw was an abandoned (sp?) blazer with a broken axle (oh and a dude on a horse). It was really washed out bad and the guy on the horse was amazed I made it on my KLR. But it was/is government land and if you tell the person at the pay booth at the entrance of amacalola that you are going past the camping to the government roads and not stopping at the falls they do not charge you anything. Then it goes back down toward Dahlonega and then it is paved for a couple of miles before you can hit the dirt roads again at Bull mountain (I think that is the name of it) and I usually end up at coopers creek area on almost all dirt.

I know a couple of other places to get stuck at in Dawsonville also.

Inland Paper is the name of the outfit that owns the land I was talking about, it's off Tobacco road.

I followed a guy from work to get there, not sure I could even find my way back to it now. 53 to Dawsonville, turn right at the stop sign (I think that's 9??) Go through the 4 way that crosses 136.... I'd have to drive it again... That's the reason I asked, if you knew about it... guess not, no biggie.... anyway, go a fur piece, take a left at a Y in the road, then left on Tobacco and it's way back in the woods. It was worn out when we went, kept telling the guy that went with me that the place would be a mess if it ever rained... guess what happened next? Barely got out of there....oh, and the guy we followed, he was on one of those dual sports like you have. Yea, not real smart.

I've been looking at the Google Map, and I'll have to get varification, but try Mill Creek Rd off 9 to Little Mt. Rd. This is ball park... I can't seem to find one of the intersections that I remember....but memory can be a funny thing....the older I get the more I use my mind to forget with.

I took a friend to the little mountain area when he got his new Rubicon and thought that thing was unstoppable because it said "Rubicon" on the hood. I was in my 2wd Frontier and went around a couple of big a$$ mud holes (with a lot of speed just in case) but he went right thru the 1st one and then hit the 2nd one to find out that it was deeper to one side. He was so stuck he had to crawl out the drivers window and jump off in to the mud. It came up to his waste and then we had to call another buddy that had a winch. He learned that juust because it says "Rubicon" doesn't mean it is unstoppable!
