Default Rear suspension TSB

Looks like a Canadian 4-leaf TSB is released in US, finally.

http://toyotanation.com/forum/showth...t=72379&page=8, page 8.

"It includes new 4 leaf rear springs all TRD models and rear springs plus 4 shocks on non TRD models. Parts are available. "

Anybody with account at Tundra solutions? PDF text? TSB# SU006-07

Is there more info on this TSB? I didn't even know about it. What Tacomas does it apply to? (eg. VIN #)

I have not seen full text yet. US TSB came out yesterday.

I see you are in Canada. If you check out the thread at TN, Canadian TSB came out a few months back. You should be able to call the dealer and set up an appointment. Canadian TSB is a different#. I do not remember it, but it was mentioned on page 3 or 4.....

Those knuckleheads at Toyota service!!!!

I called my dealer just to ask if the following applied to my truck:

TSB# BO004-07 - The bulletin adds two reinforcing bars under the top edge of the tailgate.

TSB# SU006-07 - 05-06 Tacoma 4x4 & PreRunner: Rear Spring Harsh Ride

The dumb sh... who answered the phone asked me 3 or 4 times "what is your concern...? I kept telling him that I only wanted to know if these TSBs applied to my truck. After going round and round he finally told me he couldn't tell me over the phone if these TSBs applied and the only way I could find out was to bring my truck in and have them look at it.. ugh!!! sofaking stupid! Big waste of every ones time...

( oh yeah, this punk kid tried to transfer me to some other guy and the phone rang I bet 100 times before he finally came back and told me that guy was not available and that the phone "must" be off the hook, which is why I didn't his voice mail. After the phone rang about 20 times it was in principle I stayed on the phone because I felt like he was blowing me off... )

After haggling with him I asked to speak to the service manager because what he was saying didn't make sense. The service manager took my info and said he'd look into it and call me back. The wait is on to see what happens....

</rant>

Phew! I'm glad I got that out..

The service manager just called and of course these TSBs don't apply to my truck.

He said the tailgate has to be bent before they would add the reinforcements. I asked him if he'd ever seen a bent tailgate and he said no. I told him I thought that was weird, because I've seen several and I don't even work for Toyota, plus they are weak and should be fixed.

He mumbled something about carrying heavy loads for a long time and then not carrying a load would cause the rear to ride rough. I know mine rode rough from day one, even when stock. I posted something about this here when I first bought my truck, over a year ago.
-- I don't care about the leafs because my set up is not stock, but I just wanted to know if the TSB applied.

Ah, dealing with those guys is so much fun!

Sounds like your dealer is filled with, a pack of assholes! You need to find a new dealer, then tell the old dealer your going else where. Compition is tight in the car market; Let alone between dealers of the same brand. My dealer is doing my tail gate and manifolds. As soon as he can order the new spring packs he is installing them. The boys at Toyota of Batavia, NY Rock!!!!! He aint the closest dealer, but he's worth the 45min drive!!!!!!

I phoned my local Toyota shop here in Tucson and asked if he had heard of TSB#SU006-07. Of course he hadn't....

I told him that I have been experiencing excessive "bottoming out" problems with the rear of my truck and that the ride seemed too soft. There are a few cattle guards that I pass over every day on my way to work. My Honda Pilot and Jeep Wrangler go over them without any problems at all. When driving over them with my 2006 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Off-Road DC, the rear of the truck bottoms out hard. I don't think a Tacoma with 35K should ride like that.

He said that they'd have to "have it in for an inspection" before they could determine if it would qualify for the TSB replacement parts. I really don't know what they are going to "inspect", but they said that they'd need at least a full day or two to do it.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll agree to replace the spring pack with the 4 leaf units and that it'll firm up the ride somewhat.

The only easy way, that I know of, is to get a subscription to tundrasolutions.com and get a PDF there.

I got a new set of leafs in January, but the dealer did want to inspect the truck first. I know of three other cases where the dealer inspected the truck as well. Someone mentioned a load/sag test. I can't confirm however...

It is a completely new leaf pack. I used to have a part## for it, can't find it at the moment. Dealer's computer had it coded as "Canadian/Mexican leaf pack" before the US TSB came out.

Rumor, eh? Ask them what color the sky is in their world. Asshats.

I went in about a month ago with my 05 and told them my leafs were shot and they squeak like a whores bed on pay day.

Told them there was a TSB for the leafs and they didn't even blink. Just took my keys, and did the work. No questions asked.

TSB Work is Done!!!

I just got the call from the dealership this afternoon. They've replaced the rear springs on my '06 TRD DC 4x4 under the new TSB. I took a few measurements before dropping off the truck on Monday. I'll post an update tomorrow on any changes in the rear height/ride quality...

I got this done in early july, parts were back-ordered for 4 weeks. I think it rides the same, unloaded. I havent had a load in it yet. It seems to sit about an 1.5" higher.

Here's what you've all been waiting for. I just got my truck back from having the TSB service and here's the deal:

1) The springs are indeed 4-Leaf Units.
2) The rear height of my truck (over the wheels) went up by exactly 1".
3) I'd estimate that the firmness of the ride increased by at least 50%.
That's a good thing in my case because the damn thing was bottoming
out all the time on the street (speed bumps. cattle guards, etc...)

I'm definately now in the market for a set of Donahoe coilovers for the front. I have to level out the ride as it feels like I'm always riding downhill with the new leafpack in the rear.

On another note, the steering feels an awful lot "heavier" than before the service. Maybe it has something to do with the alignment.

Maybe the new 1" rake is affecting the feel with more weight on the front.

Here is a close-up (maybe too close) of the new springs, freshly painted stuffed with the factory silicon grease...No more squeaks...Yet.

I'll have to wait and see if the leafs settle out a bit. The extra 1" of rear lift really has the truck standing on it's nose. The extra "lift" probably isn't additional lift, but rather due to the old springs having sagged so much. I had a real problem with the old ones bottoming out over speed bumps and cattle guards.

does this apply to 06 i think built in july, 4 cylinder 4x4 access cab.

i use my truck for work. i have a 28 foot span ladder on a thule rack, and tools in the back. the suspention does seem soft when going over bumps and dips, the leafs seams to almost bend backwards. i have visible scrape marks on the shock body from the upper casing. i have 17k odo. I remember when the truck was new i have to tip toe to get in (no running boards) im 5'8".

if this applys will i get replacement leafs and shocks
