Whatever. Somthing SECRET? SCANDAL? THIS IS POLITICS. We're all in this together ... I'm just trying to get everybody activated & I don't appreciate Ur 'tone' in Ur last post. I trust Danny's info. We'll talk ... if U show up. OR PM ME. I'll continue 'plastering' all info I hear & thier sources from now on.

This post will probably be deleted so read up quick!

If I were closer or had the time off Id go visit the forest service in person or my local rep anyone who could possibly sway things.

Check out the (oops - see link provided) STLCA chapter http://forum.ih8mud.com/forumdisplay.php?f=132
on www.ih8mud.com see if there is any more info there. The guys that maintain Tellico post there.

http://www.sfwda.org/trails/tellico/index.html

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=604044

I'd hoped to make the upcoming trip but I cant get the time off due to us having our Halloween sale Saturday.

There isnt much I can do as one person, we all must keep writing letters and spread the word to anyone and everyone that we can reach that may care but not know about this.

Call the magazines, the editors, anyone who may know someone that knows someone. Atleast it spreads the word. Thats the key, if we havent created enough of a storm as you've reported Ed, then we need more people to know and voice their thoughts in the ways you already have.

One more thing MONEY! Who here has joined and or just donated money to SFWDA and Blue Ribbon not including Tellico trail fees? Hmm? Let's see your membership numbers. Put em in your sig, be proud. Sometimes picking up trash once a year isnt enough. You need to give the lawyers on our side some money so they can fight for us and feed their kids.

Colin pretty much said what I wanted to say.. The forest service hasn't recieved enough response for them to change their mind. We as a community haven't made enough noise. The closures are almost definite, FS are backing out on us as they don't want a legal battle with Trouts Unlimited. SFWDA is the only hope we have left. The problem is that TU has DEEP pockets and their pockets reach deep in the political forums.

I already have a SFWDA membership(I'll have to find my number) but everyone else needs to step up and join. Also as the saying goes put your money where your mouth is.

Write a letter if you havent already. You dont have to donate $500 or your right arm. $10 or $20 is better than nothing. Heck, ask your parents for a twenty.

Okay guys - here is the letter written by David Badger (Cherokee Co, NC Manager)

If you cant read the letter here, view it at this link...Thanks guys!
http://cobraspace.com/media/albums/u...01/SFX147B.pdf

I think the letter soudns good, and maybe it will grab the USFS attention to the tune of almost an astounding $297 Million dollars spent on tourism in Cherokee county last year, quite a bit the county attributes to the presence of Tellico, and wheelers such as ourselves.

Per Danny, part of trail 8 has been emergency closed due to sagging wooden bridges. Engineering/surveying is ongoing re: 2, 7 & 9. Trying to specifically determin what the NFS must do to keep SELC/TU from filing suit.
